I have a rough idea for four magical lights that will act as 'sunlight' in a drow city. The three main lights will illuminate the city itself during the 'day'. The fourth will act as round the clock 'sunlight' for the few surface crops that the drow have brought from the surface (either in the city when it was sent to the Underdark or taken during raids/trading with the surface) I know that there are some spells that will do this under limited circumstances. My big question is this: is there a spell within DnD lore that could serve this purpose?
So the drow hate the light with a passion. So I doubt they would put lights in their domain. But if you really did want them to have lights (I assume so that your players without dark vision aren’t totally useless) I would just say that the drow figured out a way to buff the Light spell and imbue large round objects with this new spell.
Putting a slight homebrew on the drow. Mostly being very bright light, such as the actual sun, being a bother. I was just as much thinking about how dignitaries and traders from the surface would navigate, as I was thinking about how they would bring parts of the surface down. They will have a certain longing for the surface as well. Thanks for the feedback, though. Still navigating my way around being a DM.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
You might also consider just making it a natural phenomenon. In my Underdark, an entire region is named Dimlight because of some atmospheric gaseous reactions the locals call aurora subternalis. Fantasy meteorology can make a setting feel immersive and unique sometimes even more than overt magic can.

I'm probably laughing.

There is dancing lights. You could scale it up and combine it with daylight to create such an effect.
Come participate in the Competition of the Finest Brews, Edition XXVIII?

Bio-luminescence might do the trick - like mushrooms that act as grow-lights for other plants
