A blood hunter in my party wants to explore his lycanthropsy in hopes of getting more control over it. We role-played him through the beginning of his curse and how he was shifting uncontrollably and blacking out at first. The shaman in his home village was able to teach him some meditative techniques to gain some kind of control over it. Then he saw a shaman in a different village who wasn't able to help him, but suggested that perhaps a mage who specializes in lycantropsy could.
I've lead him to believe that one of the mages in the mage tower closeby might be able to help him. He just completed a mission for his patron, who will now use his contacts to allow the blood hunter access to the mage's tower (they won't see just anybody). He is going to be introduced to a blood mage who can help him, but first she needs something like a thousand pounds of flesh (alive or recently deceased) for a flesh golemn she is creating. How he gathers the flesh will be completely up to him, and I look forward to hearing how he plans to do that.
Once he completes her mission, she will tell him that on another plane of existence (fey realm?) there is a wolf who has been uncontrollably shifting into a man. The wolf suffers from the same confusion and helplessness as the blood hunter, just in the opposite direction. It turns into a man and blacks out, hunting and killing his own pack members like a human on a mission. When he shifts back into a wolf, his fellow pack members have no idea it was him.
The blood hunter needs to find this wolf in the other dimension and have some kind of encounter with it. I was thinking maybe they have to fight and whoever wins the loser takes on more traits of the other. For instance, if the wolf wins the blood hunter will start losing control of his shifting, and if the blood hunter wins he will gain more control and the wolf will lose its control. The loser may become a servant of the other, I may or may not work that in.
There is also a necromancer who will be accompanying him into the other dimension because it is too dangerous to go alone. The necromancer is a PC.
Anything to add? I want the encounter between the two to be interesting and not just a fight where as soon as they see each other they roll initiative.
A slight modification related to the Necromancer is aiding in controlling the lycanthropy of the Blood Hunter while also assisting in their adventure. Another option is to prevent the creature from escaping to other realms and causing it to have been responsible for killing people in various towns and cities throughout the land, potentially creating its own pack for a nefarious purpose. Building upon your previous post, this is where the Paladin and Fighter come into play - as murders occur in their respective domains, they eventually meet and realize they share a common enemy. Together, they seek out the Blood Hunter and the Necromancer, hoping that wherever they go, the creature will be found and destroyed.
One thing to consider, what will happen once the necromancer creates a flesh golem? The party just aided a probably evil person create an evil monster. A monster that has a history of running off. Does the necromancer ask the characters for help later on in retrieving their runaway golem? Do they unleash the golem on a small town, killing all its inhabitants and using their dead bodies in their necromancy, growing more and more power with each town they attack. Eventually they will have amassed enough undead minions to attack cities and even kingdoms. Is the necromancer smart enough to orchestrate all this? Maybe the necromancer becomes the BBEG.
Maybe, a werewolf hunter begins to hunt them down using silvered weapons. In the middle of the fight between the two werewolves, he shows up and tries to kill both of them. They can continue to fight each other and the hunter, or they can join together and fight the hunter as allies. In doing so, they both gain better control of their powers instead of having to destroy the other one for it.

I think the reverse werewolf is pretty funny.
