Need a bit of help with another campaign. It's set in the kingdom of Umbra, a completely forgotten and ruined kingdom - or so that's what everyone thinks. It's secretly ruled by a mysterious council of drow who all wear masks to hide their identities. It's always night in Umbra - but the town of Greymoor, which is only a few miles from the kingdom, is not affected by this night curse. However, a Circle of Stars druid named Sirius Starweaver (who lives in Greymoor) has noticed that the days are getting shorter and night is getting longer in Greymoor. He asks if the PCs can sort this out by seeing if Umbra is actually abandoned.
Basically, it is revealed that the council of drow are trying to take over Greymoor to steal a magical candle and use it in a ritual to summon a Nightwalker. The council is called The Veiled Court. That is why the days in Greymoor are getting shorter - the shadow is creeping up on the town.
The evil council is situated in a mansion in the centre of Umbra. On the road to the mansion are a few stops:
Moonhollow, a small underground town inhabited by Deep Gnomes (so yes, Umbra isn't completely abandoned)
Wormroost, a small village community of dragonborn who live in treetop houses
A giant dragon skeleton in a forest glade, which is revealed to be a Dragonbone Golem made by the people of Wormroost. It is hostile to the party.
A few portals are needed to get around Umbra. The main one, which leads from Greymoor past the border into Umbra, is guarded by a halfling named Lance. He always guards the portals and he wields a lance (obviously). Halfway through the campaign, Lance uses a portal to travel to where the PCs are and inform them that Greymoor has been attacked by a few masked men, and they stole a candle from the chapel. The PCs must stop the ritual.
Any ideas? I still need more encounters and suggestions for the campaign (it's still in the planning stage). Thanks!

This looks great so far! Overall, what I would say is to make sure the Veiled Court is a persistent threat, rather than just an ending boss fight. I'd maybe say set up a ranking system for the Veiled Court, and have the players over the course of the campaign fight from the bottom to top (and maybe surprise the players when you suddenly throw a very high ranked member at them at lower levels heheh). Maybe their masks can indicate the court member's ranks, as well as hint towards their abilities/give them their abilities
i would add at least one side quest unrelated that happens to include something useful to the players in this at the very end, and once they are alerted to the theft at least one attempt to kill them by the masked people (there is a spy!).

This is a good outline and plan!

Is there anything from the PC's back stories you can work in? That's usually a good place for inspiration for encounters and it hooks the players.
