What do I mean by ‘cartoony’? You’ve seen Disney and other animated media for Adventure stories with pg action and chases. Things like; Parkouring, swinging on ropes and falling with a safe landing, sword fighting without either opponent dying, etc.
My question is can I run something like this for a group that aren’t children? I don’t know if adults like those types of action adventure movies like I do.
So, several years ago my player group decided they wanted me to revisit one of my older settings, only they wanted me to tweak it to fit with anime and disney films.
Four years later they have added in a bunch of stuff in a long process guided by me, working their ideas into what has been built, and honestly it doesn't look like a disney type thing on the surface, lol, but it also doesn't look like anime, either, except again superficially (magic being the big change).
There is a Princess class out there in the wilds, and Heroes are easy to come by. I have a Princess (her actual name is Himesama Usher because of a running joke) who has an animal companion and is being threatened by a Vampire that wants the crown for himself that will not only need to be saved, but will need to be saved again later so she can be crowned. Only she's just as capable as the players.
I have freely borrowed from all of them, and sentient animals are totally a thing here.
We had a blast playtesting the earliest version, and the age ranges are currently 62 down to 13, so I'm going to say yes, there are people out there. I don't know know if they are *here*, on DDB, but they are absolutely out there.
I mean, apparently there is an entire game for anime based on D&D, using mostly the popular shonen stuff, and I have seen lots of Disney heroes over the last 40 plus years.

Somewhere out there are copies of Gygax’s loony tunes be shot. In it the PCs are transported to Loony tunes land and have to deal with the toons figuring out which ones to help. The twist was that if you examine their actions all the tradition good guys, bugs, road runner, tweety etc are actually the badguys and the traditional badguys are the good guys and you have to help them win finally.
