Hello everyone! How are you doing? I'm a novice DM and I come to you, like so many others xD, to ask for advice or guides for a campaign I'm currently running. The session takes place in the world of Elder Scrolls, shortly after the fall of Jagar Thran, the villain from the first game, ARENA. The twist is that the Eternal Champion is the villain, a Nordic mage named Wulfan Frostwind. Wulfan is a mediocre mage compared to other characters, but he has the charisma and a fairly high intelligence, which has helped him gather many allies. Among them is a Dwemer "Artificial Intelligence" named Melaz, who taught him a lot about genetic engineering (a bit strange, I know, but it could become possible), and Varok, a Dremora Lord of Molag Bal (I imagine him somewhat like Ryuk from Death Note). Wulfan's goal is that with the Empire disarrayed due to Jagar's terrible management, Wulfan, aided by his unique partners, wants to create a new grand legion of super soldiers and rebuild Tamriel in his image (yes, kind of like the Emperor from Warhammer 40K XD). My question is, what would you do to involve the players?
PD: One last thing I have to mention is that the group, before starting the main campaign, played a one-shot and met Varok, who killed an NPC that the players had grown fond of, so you could potentially build on that. Looking forward to your input!
I mean, this is Elder Scrolls we’re talking about. Obviously the PCs are going to start in prison. I think you could start by asking each player what they did to land themselves in one of Wulfan’s dungeons, then watch them try to escape.and go from there.
