Hi all, how have you all ruled before when a PC who has the Sentinel feat uses it on a monster and then is dealt damage as a result of the monsters reaction abilities that makes the Sentinel PC go down before the end of the monsters turn? Would the monster get their movement back (to save the downed PC by moving to attack another PC if your being nice) or would the sentinel endure and the monster be locked in place next to the downed PC?
You have mastered techniques to take advantage of every drop in any enemy's guard, gaining the following benefits:
When you hit a creature with an opportunity attack, the creature's speed becomes 0 for the rest of the turn.
Creatures provoke opportunity attacks from you even if they take the Disengage action before leaving your reach.
When a creature within 5 feet of you makes an attack against a target other than you (and that target doesn't have this feat), you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature.
I’ve read it and I understand what the first bullet point says but I was hoping to get some other interpretations because it can play directly into sentinels lasting effects after the PC gets downed.
If it’s as written the Monsters speed is reduced to zero fine but the mechanic of the speed reduction, whether it’s technique or an imposing presence yield different results.
When you hit, speed becomes zero. It doesn't matter anything after that, if the monster also has a reaction to use or if the attacker goes unconscious. The only thing that matters in the context of the feat is that you land a hit. It's technically before you even roll dice for the damage of the hit, it looks like.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
Nothing about the feat requires the PC remain active after it triggers. It could be a creature that has an aura that takes out the sentinel user and it would still be reduced to speed 0.
A creature hit by an opportunity attack from a Sentinel see it's speed become 0 for the rest of the turn, regardless if the Sentinel become incapacitated, unconscious or even killed. This effect has a limited duration that ends with the target's turnand is independant of the Sentinel's capacity.
Thank you all for the input, I had a tough call to make during a game and my PCs were okay with the change (it saved an NPC that they like) but I wanted to make sure I made the call right going forward.
