I kinda backed myself into a corner with my pcs new characters. We started a new game and and were making characters and i got charred away
Long story short now i have an Astral Deva who worships a giant stag Beatle, a half kobalt half stone giant rouge with parent issues, a illithid, and a complete normal druid.
Its a lvl 8 party off the bat and the game is centerd around wiping out undead
I’m not sure what sort of help you’re asking for. If you could elaborate more on what’s wrong then perhaps we can give advice. Probably you feel like the characters are too “out there” for the game (which may or may not be true), but if the players have fun and you have fun, then why not roll with the weird for a little while?
Go with it, see how everyone likes it, and then if anyone (including you) is starting to not have fun, have a group discussion where you talk about why you aren’t enjoying it

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
Well, right off the bat you have a party that should have a lot of internal conflict, considering devas are normally lawful good and illithids and kobolds lawful evil. You might craft an uneasy alliance among them based on servitude to the law or a lawful king or dragon whose territory is being inundated by undead. How they personally see one another can take a back seat to their fealty to the law or law-giver they serve. Problems can arise when you have to deal with servants of the powers that are driving the undead. Do you bring them in for justice or feed the evil tendencies of the evil members of the party? Does the druid attempt to keep a balance between the two or is he/she an undead killing crusader?
I mostly fill like i need help with there personal reasons for adventuring.
The deva was bit by a beetle, then envisioned a giant stag beetle who he now worships, The half kobold half stone giant is own a quest for his heritage, The illithid is Minimaxing, And the druid is just there
That and the the deva and illithid have an equivalent caster lvl of 12 in a lvl 8 party so I'm not sure how to challenge them and be fare to the others
In my campaign, I gave my players suggestions why they start the adventure, but ultimately have them come up with a reason they're satisfied with. As for balance...I'm not sure what you mean by "an equivalent caster level of 12" but a deva and ilithid would stick out as the more powerful members of the group. Have minions and enemies favor targeting them and whittle down their HP. You may have to get creative with tactics. Enemies that choose hit-and-run tactics may be prove difficult as they take pot shots every now and then, Also, no matter how high your level, your PCs will still be susceptible to surprise attacks and traps!
My recommendation is to get a piece of paper and ask the background questions with an eye toward putting the group on the same path.
Astral Deva (mental illness aside) may have been directed by, ahem, "Shelly the beetle god" to seek out the Illithid who travels with the child of a kind-hearted stone giant who loved a noble kobold. The existence of such a creature as the kobold-giant hybrid would be enough for any nature serving druid to justify keeping an eye on the thing and now you have a party.

I do not like the word... prisoner. It implies a helpless state, and I assure you, I am never helpless.

It could get very interesting.

Wow. I mean, WOW!
