hey there! i'm a somewhat new dm that has ran lost mines a few times, and got a group a bit into curse of strahd! i would like to start home brewing eventually, but what a bit more experience. so what do u guys thinks a good next module? im runnin this on roll 20 btw so options are tomb of annilation, storm kings thunder, or the rise of dragonqueen/tiamat books...
which one is most fun? so far im leaning toward tomb...
You know your players and what they get the most excited by. I run one game where everyone loves Jurassic Park, so next on their list is a trip to Chult. Consider when your players got the most invested and pick which narrative has the most similar elements. Therefore:
-If they enjoyed the darker, twisted elements of Curse of Strahd, or like really interesting dungeon monsters, Rage of Demons might be a good way to go (this has been my favorite campaign to run). The ever pressing madness combined with the high stakes never leaves a dull moment in the Underdark.
- If they enjoy dungeon crawling more like your Mine campaign or more classic narrative, then Rise/Tiamat or Storm King's would work well. These campaigns easily adapt to a lot of home brew content if you are wanting practice, and can give your team excellent loot to take on tougher campaigns (allowing you to really put them through their paces later).
-If players enjoy a lot of unguided exploration, or are perhaps getting a bit complacent in their exploration of dungeons, then I would recommend Tomb. With the threat of "permadeath", combined with an amazingly difficult dungeon and jungle environment just as deadly as the Underdark, this campaign excels at keeping the pressure on higher level characters.
Absolutely...I stared running it after our CoS game fell apart and the DM had to step away for awhile. Just dont get overwhelmed by the sandbox...the party will onlt go to so many locations so dony worry about being prepped for every place in the book just prep for where the partys expedition is taking them.

I would offer the following:
