I've recently had the idea of adding a set of armour that my PC's can collect that was used to bind a demon. The prices were scattered and hidden across the world. If a piece is found and worn it will slowly corrupt the user. If all pieces are brought back together the demon is released and a big fight happens.
So I have taken the rules for corruption written by I think it was Mr mercer and adapted them. For each piece after a failed wisdom save of DC 10 + corruption it adds 0.1 corruption per piece that makes future wisdom saves harder, representing their slow decent.
If they fail the save when the armour is whole they will either be consumed by the demon, killing them instantly, just trapped but still alive.
Armour of Ja'Thannaz
Shield.- a +1 shield. +1ac per two prices worn
Helmet- DC 12 wisdom save. Disadvantage on attack if failed. +1 DC for each piece worn
Cuirass- +d4 HP for every opponent killed. + 1 hp for every two pieces worn
Sabatons- + 5 movement speed
Gauntlets- if grappling opponent can use an attack action to automatic hit for d4 dam. +1 dam for every two pieces worn.
Does this sound relatively balanced. It's powerful the more they have but more likely to die when the demon does show up.
DC seems fine for a cleric or perhaps even a paladin. Might need some adjusting if its for a fighter with really low Wisdom. Overall looks acceptable with a DC12 at start with a max of 17. Shield could become a +3 which is fairly potent and could entice the player to get most pieces. Problem i see is that the player would just stop using the Helmet, but keep the rest for the bonusses. Although the Sabatons with extra movement doesn't seem that interesting with a mere +5 movement. Maybe add a bonus action that lets the player use some of the demon power as foreshadowing? unlocking it only if 3-4 parts have been put together?
Other then the saves vs Corruption. Anything else happening such as a curse? Or piece of lore the players can come across that might raise red flags as to wearing these pieces? Maybe something extreme happening like Mark Hulmes did with some gauntlets in the Lightfall campaign. Such as Crownrend (https://yogscast.fandom.com/wiki/High_Rollers_D&D/Homebrew)

Crownrend is an interesting piece. I might steal that idea that they need to have it in order to survive. Make that part of the curse that causes them to use and seek out the other parts. Beside the instant death if they fail the final save by to much.
I did run out of ideas when it came to the sabatons. I know it's a bit lack luster. I will need to think about that a bit more.
I also had a ththoug of making a bad guy that is also seeking the armour, intending to release the demon and try to control it for their own ends. Give the players something to race against and even possibly lose to.

Hi all

Feedback is most welcome
