I am creating a world for a campaign I am going to run for some friends, the world I am creating is a future alternate earth where man created nanites that gave powers like magic and after several wars and hundreds if not thousands of years later the nanites have mutated the animals and humans into the contemporary D&D creatures and races and can create effects people to create effects that are the same as magic. I am trying to give this world a Revolution (for those that don't know this show it was on NBC in 2012-14) meets Shanarra kinda background and feel with some other inspirations added in. I am needing suggestions for a good background story and any rules modifications that seem necessary for the world that the characters can find out over time. If they search for it. ;) Also, any rules modifications that seem necessary for the world.
Just a little of what I have right now. I am playing there are alternate planes like the prime material, keeping spells pretty much the same just changing how they are fueled. I have a group that has knowledge of how magic actually works.
I am also interested in any questions from people interested in this world, cause questions require answers and thinking of things I might not have thought of yet.
What about levels of knowledge of history' *The the ways of mankind angered the god's, and the god's created a plague that struck down and killed many, but others were taken made creations of the gods.
*The Countries of man were at war and one of the weapons created was a great plague, that go away and attacked ALL sides either destroying or changing all, minds and body.
*The corporations of man, decided the war could only be won by creating warrior constructs [warforged] but the warriors turned against their makers and created the plague from the bio weapons they were given.
*The warforged were crated by use of gel like nano tech in a great vat called the cauldron of life, by the scientists but due to several errors and the arrogance of the corporate scientists, the gel became unstable and mutated.. and began to mutate flesh and blood and not the plastics they were tooled for
*In a successful attempt to create construct soldiers as aware as man, the scientists played with cutting edge ai nano tech to better shape the warriors brains, this over time destabilize the system and.. creating the gods from the first circle of survivors linking them to nano AI systems and geo-thermal power projectors placed deep in the earth by other nano technology.
* in the Gods attempt to save the world they were destroying, the projected their power into lessor mortal systems changing them and building defenses to save the world.
this was just off the top of my head reword for your own.
