Hey fellow DMs, anyone here incorporate the vestiges from Critical Role into their campaign? If so, did you just use the ones Matt put in the Tal'dorei campaign guide? Or did you homebrew your own for your players? A mix of both?
I'm looking at possibly introducing the vestiges to my campaign (rejiggered lore to fit Faerun) and am trying to decide if I should homebrew all new ones for my party or not. I've gotten some good ideas (I think anyway) for some but I do like the ones that they have in the guide.
I have used Matt's and made my own. I will say that they are fun to make. I would for sure add the already made ones, but if you want a player to have a certain flavor it would mean even more to the player to get an item that seems tailored for them..
Nice. I have a party of 3. 2 rangers and a paladin so I was really eyeing the pyremaul, Fenthras, and the titanstone knuckles from Matt's vestiges. (And maybe armor of the valiant soul or plate of the dawnmartyr but renamed since our group is in the sword coast not Exandria.) I've got several homebrewed already but after the first couple they've all started to feel really lame. (Maybe it's just because I've tapped the creative well too much too fast.) It's not like we need them right away. We're at least 5 levels away from being ready to face the chroma conclave and with how irregularly we play that could be months away if we ever get there.
Items tailored to the players is part of why I started heading down the homebrew my own route. The first one I homebrewed is a longsword right up one of my players' character's alley. +1/2/3 longsword that gives buffs to specific features of the ranger class he chose.

I homebrewed new ones. There was a sword on reddit that would shatter into pieces on a crit.
Made it into a 1/2/3+ rapier with thr shatter effect on a crit. Dealing 2/4/6d4 damage in a 10/15ft line.
On vestige 1 the sword leaves the players hand, making for a fun first time.
On vestige 2/3 the player joins the sword in the line making for sweet movement moments.

Having fun trying to rp more.
I am running a campaign in Exandria as well. And yes, there are vestiges :)
