How do you handle a PC's death? One of my players died after a rather deadly Remorahz attack yesterday, and made three failures on his death saves. The other players dragged him to the oracle and asked it about information to resurrect him. I ended the session there, in fear of taking them out of the story arc, and also let the player decide if he wanted to make a new character or keep playing with the other one. I was thinking of Harshnag having friends in high places, some local barbarian tribe could do it for a fee or maybe his god could do something to him. The dead player is a Tempest Cleric, with Auril as his god.
What could be a cool way to let the party resurrect their friend, without straying too far from story?
The Oracle is as powerful as you want it to be. It's spooky and mysterious, so I think you can use that here.
If the PCs ask the Oracle about helping, perhaps the Oracle itself offers to resurrect the character, under condition that the party unite the giant tribes, or fix the problem in the Storm Giant Court. You can use that to give additional backstory as well as really get the players and characters to buy in to the theme. If you wanted to make it like a side quest, you could have the oracle direct the group out to the wastes, to find an old altar, then place the body there on a moonless night (or something) -- again still having some form of connection back to the main story to help encourage buy in.
The Oracle is the turning point where things pick up pace and at the end of that encounter, the party should have a good idea what they are doing and why.

"An' things ha' come to a pretty pass, ye ken, if people are going to leave stuff like that aroound where innocent people could accidentally smash the door doon and lever the bars aside and take the big chain off'f the cupboard and pick the lock and drink it!"
You can play out the spiritual world for this player: his soul left his body in the temple, and Auril (or Auril's angel) comes to pick him up, but the oracle offers him the vital information for their journey, and a chance to be risen from the dead. Let the player decide (which is the whole point!)
