Gotten pretty bored recently over quarantine and have decided to treat my friends to a home-made adventure for when self-iso is over. I’m creating it around their preferences, for example, one of my friends is a huge fan of Bloodborne so I will include some gothic elements in their along with some gore and/or dark magic. Another is a fan of theatre-of-mind and tavern interactions so a main hub will be a famous tavern of sorts. I’m struggling to think of ideas for the plot/adventure hooks for the adventure along with creating towns, villages and NPCs. Any advice on how to create these areas/people or how I could expand on their tastes? Thanks :)
Have you heard of the game Warhammer: Chaosbane? If not, check it out. If yes, then do something like that plot line. Have the adventurers return to a huge tavern/home base for warriors.

With a big tavern for adventurers, it’s pretty easy to have some disconnected plot hooks, some intrigue, some item “acquisition,” some fight the kobolds in the cave outside of town. Try a few and see what sticks, then turn that into your campaign. And for other towns and villages, create them as needed. Maybe come up with a name for a big city somewhere (everyone knows about New York even if they’ve never been there) and a couple geographic regions. Then just add in stuff as needed. And it’s almost always best to have the players make a decision at the end of the session, so you only have to prep the one thing (will you stay in town to help fight the zombie, or go to the next town over to try and find the person with the cure).

Awesome :) that makes it sound a lot easier instead of making everything all in one go. Thanks!
And for flavor, you might also want a few big names, the king, the mayor of the town they’re in, and other folks everyone will have heard of.
