so i went over the modron stats both in 5e and in past editions and despite seemingly being robots, none of them has ever had immunity to poison it seems. How can this be, when they are supposed to be like robots or whatever, would it not make sense for these things to be at least resistant to poison? are those fleshy bits around their mouths meant to be real flesh that is subject to poison and disease, stuff that can bleed if struck with a sharp dagger? is this some arbitrary limitation put in place by primus for the sake of "fairness"?
Also why do so many modrons use strength based attacks like javelins and unarmed strikes when their dexterity is so much higher than their strength most of the time? why do they have such weird stat blocks?

i am soup, with too many ideas (all of them very spicy) who has made sufficient homebrew material and character to last an thousand human lifetimes
Hey there, I gave the Modron a look-over just now and aside from the fact that they're creature-typed as "construct" and that their plane is Mechanus nothing seems to point to them being robots, they have eyes and teeth etc and in the variant description has written "A modron unit sometimes becomes defective, either through natural decay or exposure to chaotic forces." --Natural decay sounds like it could go either way. Their design is high-fantasy at it's most "willing suspension of disbelief" form so I wouldn't worry about rationalizing it too far, but maybe something like when a modron enters its next rank in the hierarchy it is placed in a pre-constructed frame of natural armor before evolving (cocoon or pokemon-style), or just straight-up "planar evolution" (pokemon with high-fantasy rationale). As far as poison, if they're an organic/semi-organic living entity of Mechanus poison could certainly have an effect! If that damages your story in any way just make them Mechanus-operated arcane robot-constructs and give 'em poison immunity (just tell your players if they're weird about homebrewy stuff obvi). As far as stat blocks, they're hardly different enough to make a difference but it looks like they just "realistically" attack with what they have, being their fists or javelins (melee OR ranged) or it looks like one of them has a bow (also ranged). But yeah, it looks like there could be brains in there, I'd roll with it. XD
