The Lamia is an interesting enemy I want to use in my current campaign. I want to get the most of its seducing and deceptive intentions by having it disguise itself and lure the party back to its lair (potentially casting geas on one of the party on the way there). My main question is about the intoxicating touch ability:
Intoxicating Touch. Melee Spell Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: The target is magically cursed for 1 hour. Until the curse ends, the target has disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws and all ability checks.
What I am curious about is if a PC knows they have been cursed by this ability or if it is more subtle.
As a side note the party consists of a monk, two clerics and a druid. So considering the Lamia has a fairly low save DC and almost all its saves are Wisdom based making sure my players have disadvantage on the save is basically the only way I can pull this off.
They would definitely know what something is wrong. They would have trouble seeing things clearly and have trouble with other senses since they have disadvantage on wisdom checks. They may not know it is a curse, but they definitely know that something is not quite right.
They would know that they had disadvantage on Wisdom checks and saves, but not why. You should try to make it seem like some other effect caused it instead. Ex: The players touched a pillar of obsidian, or walked through a wild magic area.
