Howdy GMs and Happy New Year. Our playgroup is transitioning to the new 2024 rules and we want to start playing around with Bastions (because of course). :) We've been playing for quite a while, and over the course of the adventures, the group has gained ownership of a dwarven gemstone mine and attached underground structures. So do you guys have any balanced and interesting ideas for homebrewing a Mine Special Facility to use with the Bastion rules?
I’d maybe re-skin the storehouse. They put some money into it (flavor as supplies for the miners) and get back some higher percentage. Maybe 1/bastion turn make a roll to see if they pull out a gem that can work as a spell component.
Or, if you want to let them get better stuff, maybe-skin garden or greenhouse. And then the stuff they pull out they can use for crafting. Maybe they find a vein of Mithril or adamantium or something.
But as a gemstone mine, I’d stick with the first one.
A Gemstone Mine searches for and produces various valuable gems of different rarities.
Trade: Gemstone Mine When you issue the Trade order to this facility, the facility’s hirelings work hard in the mines, searching for valuables.. At the end of the tenday, roll 1d100 and consult the following table to determine your findings.
1d100
Mining Results
01-25
No significant findings.
26-50
Common gems worth a total of 1d6x10 GP. Subtract 5 from your next roll.
51-75
Uncommon gems worth a total of 3d6x10 GP. Subtract 10 from your next roll.
76-95
Rare gems worth a total of 5d6x10 GP. Subtract 15 from your next roll.
96-100
Very rare gems worth a total of 10d6x10 GP. Subtract 20 from your next roll.
The flow of magic runs strong through your Bastion. Perhaps it rests on a ley line or the site of an ancient magical event. It doesn’t take up space within your Bastion, but it permeates it.
Mystic Empowerment (Requires Spellcasting). When you finish a Long Rest in your Bastion, you gain one extra spell slot of level 1.
Empower: Mystic Recharge. When you issue the Empower order to this facility, you cause a stirring in the magical weave that lasts for seven days.
A single wand, which remains in the Bastion for the entire 7 days, regains 1d4 charges.
When crafting magic items, 7 days' work counts as 10.
A common magic item can be crafted in 3 days instead of 5.
