Corlith also spends a moment taking stock of their new surroundings, at the sphere of darkness belching lightning, the red smoky sky, the dilapidated buildings and the crumbling fortress. He also notes the chains keeping the city in place. He also looks for signs of life, or just things that move.
"I would take a guess that the chains keep the city here, and the big black eye spewing lightning is the thing that makes sure the chains stay put", he replies to Reed. "Whether there is someone actually in charge here to speak to though, I have no idea. The fortress is as good a place to look as any I suppose", he adds, agreeing with the Halfling's suggested course of action.
As Archie regains her sense of self and place in the realm she quickly and obsessively checks on the people around her. Reya, safe. The group, present and accounted for. Lulu, close.
Looking up at the companion in the sky, Archie reflexively flinches from the nearest lightning strike. "Should we get inside somewhere and get out bearings? Where's the nearest tallest non-ruined building?"
Virro pauses to settle his head, straightens his clothing and starts to look at his surroundings as they discuss where to go. “Okay, fortress it is. Perhaps we should get into somewhere less exposed and make our way there cautiously…”. He flexes his hand on his glove a moment and seems to be focusing on his shield for a minute, then looks up.

Roo is absolutely gobsmacked. Dumbstruck. Stupified. He raises a finger to tear the life from the stupid water-cat with a verbal tyrade....and then suddenly he is standing in the middle of a literal hellscape.
"What the cluck?" He asks, looking about, having been so enraged that he even misses the oversized weasel's departure. None the matter. He'll kill that guy later, after all this crap is over.
The little Gallus takes a moment, looking around, taking in the grandeur of this new place....apparently Elturel. He grabs at his armor, hauling it up and adjusting his body inside of it, making sure that it is sitting in a way that is comfortable.
"Well." Roo says, like he's completing his thought. "What a lovely place. This looks like the sort of place where we can actually finally start to get some action! Start to make a difference, do something to stick it to...stick it to..."
He thinks.
"...what was the name of your made up devil again?"
Lulu stares around and you can see the despair and terror in her face as she takes in her surroundings. She then flicks her trunk around and a light emerges at the tip of it and she looks delighted, almost clapping her front feet together.
Reya puts a hand to her mouth as she takes in what has happened to her beautiful city. She takes a moment to let the fact her city is in shambles sink in and it strengthens her resolve. "Yes! To the High Hall cathedral! I'm sure we'll find someone in charge there."
Heading towards the great crevice of the city to try and find a way across to reach the fortress, you turn around a corner and see a situation. Next to a still-standing structure runs a woman with two toddlers, one on each arm. In her wake amble three infernal monsters with glaives and snakelike beards. The fiends are laughing darkly.
Corlith rounds the corner to see the woman trying to escape the three bearded fiends, her small children in her arms, and he can't help himself.
"Back off!", he calls in infernal, and raises his hands, the bracers on his wrists now glowing faintly. From each emits an icy blast that fly towards the first two pursuers.
Action: Ray of Frost against bearded fiend 1(advantage as unseen) - Attack: (1, 4)+9=13, Damage: 8+3=11 [cold] - speed reduced by 10ft until Carlitos next turn Bonus Action: Ray of Frost against bearded fiend 2 (advantage as unseen) - Attack: (13, 19)+9=28, Damage: 7+1=8 [cold] - speed reduced by 10ft until Carlitos next turn
"Lulu you acompanied Zariel to Avernus the first time, I hope that means you have battle experience! ready guys?" without waiting for answers from anyone Archie pulls one of her new javelins and hucks it at the leading devil (22 to hit, 6 piercing damage) as it sinks into the devil at the front of the pack, Archie finds that her hands are now empty, the javelin not returning like her light hammer usually does, so she slams her fists together activating the crackling of her thunder gauntlets and sticks tow middle fingers up at the group of devils once she has their attention. smoke rises like a chimney stack from her helm as she gets very nervous.
Reed's eyes go wide as they turn the corner and spot what appears to be a mother with toddlers running from devils. He does wonder for a moment if they might really be devil's in disguise. They've seen some of that lately and this is Avernus. But before he can voice that idea his companions choose sides, so he just smiles and nods.
"To work then," Reed says.
He takes a deep breath and stills himself as he lines up an arrow with the lead devil. Between heartbeats he lets the arrow fly.
Bonus Action - Steady Aim - grants Advantage as long as Reed doesn't move.
Action - Short bow (5, 18 + 8) = 26 to hit for (6+5 + sneak attack of 6+4+6) = 27 piercing.

Lulu trumpets and flies to join Reya, making sure the woman has some protection. She then readies her tusks in case the devils come within melee range.
Both of Corlith's attacks hit, slowing the two down and making them turn to see who has joined. Archie's javelin sinks in deep and he cries out, just before the lead devil stumbles hard from Reed's arrow, the point buried into his neck. He starts coughing blood, but still stands.
Virro pauses for a tick and readies his shield, then his right hand shoots out toward two of the bearded devils. A single, massive skeletal ethereal hand shoots out of his glove, midway through the air it splits in two and grabs two of the bearded devils around the throat. The second, slightly larger hand seems to really choke the devil, squeezing hard, then it moves through and beyond him. A grim grin comes on Virro’s face, his first encounter with a bearded devil coming to mind. He did not like the fellow at all.
Chill touch (splitting in two due to his Reaper ability) :
1st bearded devil : 25 to hit, for 8 points of necrotic damage.
2nd bearded devil : (Nat 20! Crit!) 27 to hit, for 25 points of necrotic damage.

Roo is looking confused at first, then says out loud "What the... Ah. Yes! All constructs, created by blasphemers! There is only one being diabolique and it is not this Zariel, but Strix himself! Ah but wait..."
He looks up, seeing the Bearded Devils run into view, chasing a fellow carrying two small featherless children. He takes only a second, wondering if these are the same as the evil minors that they had been sent to dispatch at Thorn Valley prior to their engagement with the bandits, but then saw that the fiends were, in fact, the targets here. Should have known.
"Oh! I can make a whole cloak with their beards!" He says with a chipper realization as he runs in, leaping toward the one reeling from Virro's Chill Touch as he draws the Owl's Talon. He stabs down hard, trying to hit its neck, but instead sticks the sword in its shoulder. "Cluck!"

The second hand oozes necrotic damage on the 2nd bearded devil, the crit damage causing him to become bloodied instantly. Roo's shortsword stabs the creature in the shoulder and he grunts with surprise, but damage is notably halved.
Corlith's icy blast hits the bloodied devil (1) and the other bloodied devil (2). #2 looks around, his anger obvious at being thwarted from his apparent easy prize and he attacks the closest enemy to him, Roo.
He first attacks with his beard, he recognizes the wig Roo wears and he cries out in anger while the beard's sharp snakelike growths find purchase on Roo's neck. (6 damage DC 12 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. While poisoned in this way, the target can't regain hit points. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success) He then attempts to jab him with his glaive, but the anger he feels over the wig makes him miss.
#3 joins his friend and attacks Roo as well. But both of his attacks miss by a mile. Then he growls, "What the hell are you wearing, fool?"
Seeing Roo getting ganged up on, Reya steps forward and attacks #2.
Her first strike slices the bearded devil's arm, but as the others have noticed, not as deep as she would have normally seen. Her other strike goes wild.
Virro decides to point at the two remaining bearded devils, repeating what he did before. Another ethereal skeletal hand shoots out at them and splits in half, attacking each of the devils.

"Buck! Motherclucker!" Roo shouts as the beard hits him. He backs up, then sneers before answering the devil's question. "What am I wearing? Why, a wig made of your mothers a$$hair! Eat THIS!"
The feathers on Roo's neck stick out as he arches and spits an Eldritch Blast at his foe...

Was he part of the circle with Traxigor? He couldn't quite remember, but the last time he recalls seeing the big man was in the otters tower..
Seeing the two bearded devils down, Lulu gets some inspiration and charges forward to #3. But the creature was ready for her and steps to the side. She swipes at the air with her tusks instead.
Not letting Lulu, Roo and Reya be in melee alone with this dastardly devil Archie rushes in, swinging with her fists. (22 to hit, 7 thunder damage. 14 to hit, 6 thunder) as her fist connects a thunderous crack rings out and the devil feels the gauntlets pulse with power. (Devil has disadvantage to attacking anyone but Archie until her next turn)
