Kae says "pee-ew" and pinches her nose, but ultimately doesn't seem super disturbed by the smell. She's fairly used to existing and working around stenches, though not necessarily stenches as bad as this one.
"Anyways, looks like we're here. Wherever here may be." Kae takes a bundle of old rope off of her backpack and throws one end of down the drop-off. She then takes out a piton. The loop that the rope would normally be attached to around seems busted, but, never one to be deterred, Kae simply drives the piton into the ground and ties the rope around it. She stomps it further into the ground a couple times to make extra sure it's safe. "If you want to go down first, Eds, be my guest."

Mildly surprised but otherwise unperturbed by the travel time, Zal never loses steam during the journey, and kept up a neutral expression even as senses are assaulted by the disturbing smell. It did however made him thoughtful overtime, thus the slight delay before nodding to Kae and Eddie. "Good luck, slick, and take care. 'fore even the most foul smelling of creatures can have surprisingly sharp senses."He warns Eddie. Then while the man is making his descent, Zul began looking around the immediate area along the top of the cliff, searching for any signs that might hint of other visitors or outward clues as to what might await inside the cave.

Eddie will try to climb down to the cave mouth as quietly as possible.
(Not sure what rolls you want here but Stealth: 22, Acrobatics: 4)
If he makes it there safely he will check for any traps before moving just inside the cave mouth to see what is visible and whether he can hear any sounds emanating from the opening.
(I am assuming Eddie's action is to creep forward?) Eddie moves forward while the others hang back a bit. (Dex roll DC 10 to prevent yourself from sliding down/ Stealth roll if you are attempting to be stealthy. ) Eddiemakes it to the entrance. It appears to be an opening for some kind of tunnel. Looking inside, he sees this tunnel slopes down, into the darkness.
Kae uses her rope to climb down as well. She doesn't try to be especially stealthy. She walks up to Eddie and stands next to him at the entrance to the tunnel. "What's it like to not have magical eyes, Eds?" She takes a glance into the tunnel, able to see it much more clearly than her changeling companion. She looks back towards Zalos and gestures a "come over here." With the click of an old flashlight being turned on, the hole becomes illuminated, not that anybody but Eddie especially needs it to be. "Nothing left to do but delve, I guess."

Quietly and cautiously Eddie makes his way down to the entrance. Here the smell of decay is stronger but it is mingled with something else you just can't place. After a brief check, Eddie is sure this place holds no traps and he moves just inside the entrance. Eddie looks ahead and sees the entrance only goes 5 ft. forward past the entrance. When he looks down, however, he finds a hole, at the 5 ft. mark, that drops straight down into darkness and is about 4 ft. in diameter.
Kae uses her rope to climb down as well. She doesn't try to be especially stealthy. She walks up to Eddie and stands next to him at the entrance to the tunnel. Kae makes her way down to the tunnel entrance. Pulling out a flashlight she finds the tunnel extends more down than ahead. She tries to see how far the hole drops but she feels the earth giving way each time she tries to get close to its edge. After about 3 ft. the earth doesn't feel stable. (Roll a Perception roll Kae)

Although it took hm a second to notice, Zal returned Kae gesture to approach with a raised brow, having expected a bit more time for preliminary investigation to be had. So, he stayed watching for a bit until -- "Ah, kid can't see."He mutters in seeing Kae break out the "torch". He then looks down to his lupine companion. "Well CC. Guess we're going down." It takes him about a minute to reorient gear and put together a makeshift doggie papoose from his jacket, but eventually he climbes down using Kae's rope and move to catch up with the others. Although for the most part for the time being, he tried to keep quiet.
Stealth with disadvantage: 5+1 for a 6.
And until she gets too squirmy, CC is still in the wolf pupoose.

Eddie: The ball bearing drops. You get to the count of 5 when you hear a faint "Thud". To you, it sounded more like it hit hard leather rather than earth or stone.
Zal stumbles down the side of the hole. CC's wiggling back and forth forces you to put her down or lose your balance.
You all congregate at the tunnel entrance. CC shuffles backward away from the entrance and growls.
The ground beneath you seems to shake slightly as a figure rises up from the hole. It extends to the top of the hole and then bends forward to face you. You look deep into its reptilian eyes, eyes so black they are purple with golden-slited pupils. Its black scales seem to absorb the light from Kae's flashlight. A red forked tongue flashes out of its mouth in quick succession, tasting the air around it. It hisses at you. Behind you CC yipes and you can hear her scrambling up the side of the hole.
Kae looks at the reptile and makes an astute observation: "BIG FRICKIN' SNAKE!"
