Pisgah looks around the burial chamber looking for anything that seems to be out of place, anything that may have fallen and need to be righted. PERCEPTION roll 12.
If he finds anything, he will pick it up and return it to where it looks like it should go. Same for any of the arms or armor buried with the dead, he will straighten those and in Dwarvish say a quick homily for the dead to rest in peace.
[Ah JSenecal I've already rolled for Rico and given the relevant information (Rico rolled above 16, that's why I wrote 16+). I've generally stopped asking for rolls because that drags in a pbp game and will pre-roll if I think a character would potentially notice something. By the same token you can always just roll a skill check if you think it's appropriate.]
Pisgah sees that some of the skeletons lie in careless poses and some of the bones ancient and armor pieces have fallen to the floor. This seems like the work of grave robbers. He is able to restore the dwarves into more dignified poses. [Pisgah gains Heroic Inspiration]
To the north, there is a large hole in the wall, through which you see a natural cave and a grisly sight: The partially rotted remains of a male human lie in a corner. What’s left of his face is twisted into a silent scream. The skin seems like it has burst in several places. Pisgahs rudimentary examination doesn't reveal anything of particular interest. The equipment of the man is moldy, but the leather armor and 50 feet of rope are still useable.
Pisgah ties off Cabrito to one of the sarcophagus with the 35 ft rope lead. Pisgah then takes the 50 ft of rope to replace his cut rope.
"Hey, ArdneK, will you use the ear horn and listen down this corridor to the west? I am curious what may have been down this tunnel that caused this look. I would like to check out the tunnel but wonder what is down there. "
ArdneK hears a soft clicking sound and faint conversation from the west, four creatures talking. The language is strange, nothing ArdneK has heard before. It sounds like noises you could only make if you had a beak. Based on auditory clues, it seems they are quite some distance away, probably around 150 feet down the cave.
Canti and Rico are inspecting the injuries. Canti has never seen something like this before, but Rico recognizes that these were caused by something bursting forward through the skin from within. Faint webbing and the residue of small eggs tell her that this was some kind of horrible spider infestation which was the main cause of death.
OOC: Are we all leveling up and moving on or do you want to take a short rest and level up? I have taken a dip into Druid. We'll see how that plays out....
If we are leveling up now, I would like to take 10 minutes to ritual cast something....
Canti wrinkles her nose and swallows hard as Rico makes the results of her investigation known. Death by hatching spiders. What a way to die.
When it's decided to take a short break, Canti chooses a place to rest where the body is not in sight. She busies herself with another experiment and toward the end of the hour, the others hear her cheer. She had succeeded. The flesh-and-blood gnome quickly begins rubbing something on the shafts of all of her arrows.
While Canti is busy working on some task, Pisgah leads Cabrito over near the entrance and feels his way through casting a ritual spell in the way he had seen some of the tribal shamans doing in his childhood years. After about 10 minutes have gone by he casts Speak with Animals and begins to ask Cabrito:
1. (Animal Handling check of 12 to influence Cabrito) I think you should stay with us and we can help to keep you safe, just stay tucked out of the way if a fight breaks out, okay?
2. Do you remember being turned to stone?
3. Do you know where you were when you were turned to stone?
4. Was it a person, a wizard or something, that turned you to a statue or was there some object?
[We said that torches take 1 wood item (e.g. wood scraps) per torch up to 5 per short rest or 20 per long rest.]
Cabritos eyes widen as he now suddenly understands what the big person is saying. He bleats his thoughts: "Safe? Good! Safe good. You are herd. You protect. You give food." 2. The goat tries to answer the second question. It squirms in fear at the recollection. "My herd. Then no herd. Then quiet." 3. "Somewhere else. But same dark, same smells." 4. The goat is unsure about the concept of a wizard, but affirms "Big man with big hat. Big words. Big boom."
ArdneK will keep guard during the rest, staying to the shadows, listening to the Genasi bleat at the goat, trying not to laugh. He examines the dragon teeth he has, looking forward to them becoming proper weapons.
Near the end of the rest, he will begin talking about how they saved the goat, the Kenku, and in the future potentially all the other creatures. A truly inspiring speech for sure.
Hearing ArdneK's speech, Pisgah begins to bleat in the direction of the Kobold before realizing what was happening and slipping back to Common "blahh a rousing speach! Thank you!"
[Recorded another tourch used for Steel]

After straightening up around the dead, Pisgah moves on to the entrance of the chamber to the north and takes a look.

This natural cavern leads off to the west.
"Of course" says the little kobold.

[Sure. Right at the beginning of the dungeon is a good spot. Feel free to take a short rest and level up everyone.]

2. Do you remember being turned to stone?
3. Do you know where you were when you were turned to stone?
4. Was it a person, a wizard or something, that turned you to a statue or was there some object?
During the rest, Rico works to replenish their supply of torches, since she has enough spare arrows for a while.
(What resources did it take to make torches? And how many can she make in an hour? Of course another torch is used in the process)
You give food."
2. The goat tries to answer the second question. It squirms in fear at the recollection. "My herd. Then no herd. Then quiet."
3. "Somewhere else. But same dark, same smells."
4. The goat is unsure about the concept of a wizard, but affirms "Big man with big hat. Big words. Big boom."
"Thank you! Your words are very helpful. "
Pisgah tells the team the description of the wizard as a big man with a big hat. "It's not much but more than we had."
[Everyone get's 10 temp HPs!]
Hearing ArdneK's speech, Pisgah begins to bleat in the direction of the Kobold before realizing what was happening and slipping back to Common "blahh a rousing speach! Thank you!"
At that ArdneK does let out a laugh.
"An impressive skill you have there, perhaps we can un-stone the boar soon, and you can convince to let me ride it! Now that would be something."
