(( My (not Ember's) bonehead mistake... ME >> kept looking at 1202 instead of 1212 ))
Ember continues to flit from the hatch at the southern most side of the chamber... back up to those on the island. "If Razzec can check the hatch out... we will know if it is a way out OR another side twist in this crazy place. Then again, it may be where that crystal thing is we need to find..."
Ember will wait for any additional thoughts or plans ... if none, he will fly over to Razzec to relay the news while moving across the reef southward.
Razzec will try the hatch, hoping to get off of the reef before the dang thing tries to eat him again. He'll try to turn the circular handle to see which way it gives before putting his full strength into it.
The wheel turns easily, Razz and Grey strain against the pressure of water, pulling and pulling...
Finally in a short rush, the door opens and water rushes in the fill the void. There is a tunnel going down into the water. The end which is hard to determine the depth is brightly lit.

"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
Ember watches while holding their breath. One the hatch opens and water pours in to reveal the continuation of their path, he flies up and back over to the island to update everyone. "... and now, the big hurdle is -- how do we get the rest of you over to that hatch without feeding those lamprey fish things?"
Nico, not yet wanting to burn magic on teleporting to the others, stood on his toes as he strained to see what was happening. The water moving near Razz and Grey made him furrow his eyebrows.
"Is that some sort of hole in the ground?" he called out, almost incredulous. He was curious, but he was also staring to get a bit nervous. "You guys aren't thinking of jumping in, are you?"
Razzec is trying to gauge how big the hole is and how long the tunnel would be. "I wish I still had my rope. If I went first, I could secure the rope and then everyone else would at least have a guide line to use to make it through." Razzec still isn't sure if he wants to jump in first or if they could come up with something else to send through first. "Does anyone have Find Familiar? If we could summon an aquatic one, maybe they could make it through and let us know what was on the other side?"
Ember flies to those on the island. "If you go to the side of the island 'closest' to the reef, I will take a palm leaf and start slapping it on the water's surface way down at the southern end of the island. If I can get the monster water things to come to the noise, I will fly and splash up and around the east side of the island... leading them as far from you as possible as you cross to the reef."
"Once everyone is across, I can fly up and get your rope and bring it back... I think."
Nico nodded. "Thanks, Ember, that sounds like a great plan. Just yell out if they start flying after you or something." The bard kicked off his boots, and tied the laces together before hanging them around his neck. He then looked back and waited, ready to jump into the water.

Razzec Dex Save: 18 (Game log)
As Razz moves over the reef, a few crack try to close on his feet but he manages to dodge their snapping jaws.
When he gets to the indicated area, he sees what looks like a round metal door with a circular handle in the middle.

The handle spins easily but pulling on the hatch will need more effort!

Razzec yells at the rest of the group. "I'm going to need help getting this thing open. I can turn the handle but can't get it open."
Grey was next to Razzec before he went to the latch, so he will move to join him and help.
"I'm Coming!" Grey yells out.
If you need it, Dex: 17
When he gets there he will cast Guidance and then help with the hatch.
Need a strength threshold of 30. Meaning there needs to be a total of 30 or more strength points to open the door.
No need for wonky Athletics rolls.

Razzec's strength score is 20 so I think with any one other person, we have enough to get it open?
Grey has a strength of 18, so we are two away. Would bless/guidance help? :)
Razzec's 20 plus Grey's 18 is 38 so I think we're good

Yeah i was counting to 40 for some reason, ha!
Grey has a rope we can use, no need to waste time or effort retrieving the other, unless you want your ropes back.
"I don't have a familiar, or any water traveling spells at the ready unfortunately."
