Also Magnus and Fjeordi, you can add a d4 to any d20 roll once a turn while within 30ft of each other. Not that it'd have made any difference on Mag's turn with that nat 20. 🤣
@all characters- once we finish this small encounter, we can consider and implement some kind of team concept with established roles for each character (if we wish). We have a well-balanced party that should be able handle almost any type of encounter. It would be useful if we had some idea of how the other characters will act.
For Magnus, it is pretty straight forward and not subtle at all. He wants to charge into the opponents and swing his ax. He can deal a lot of damage and also take a lot of damage due to high hit points and resistance to many attack forms. He also carries one of the cure potions. He appreciates any type of combat assistance.
With these simple statements, you can get some idea of what Magnus will do. I would like to hear from each of you. Of course, if you wish to maintain an air of mystery about your actions- that can be fun too.
I hope that while characters do want to rush in they can also leverage stealth and don’t just rush into comber every time. (I’ve played in other games where players have said ‘my player always rushes into combat. It’s just his behavior’ and then always ran into combat) . So just validating that while the preferred options for players is to run into combat. We can plan out combats and when necessary be stealthful and do what is best for the party in those encounters
@CalaQuendi- I am in complete agreement with you. We need to harmonize our collective efforts rather than rushing off in all directions, or worse yet- do nothing.
Chipper prefers peaceful resolutions that don't even involve fighting, but understands that with some foes that isn't even an option. When combat is unavoidable or righteous, he is largely a support character who's goal is to make everyone else stronger, and kept safe and alive.
Because while he is a civilized kobold, he still is a kobold, and strongly believes everyone is stronger when they work together.
Senca in combat is for hit and run tactics using strategic positioning to the best of her ability. For her a fight avoided is a fight won, but when there is a fight an opponent taken down before the fight begins is best. When things are bad she'll look to aid where she can but get out of the messy bits quickly.
Velys is about strategy and control in a fight. He will look to see what tactical advantages he can find (or create) for the team and then try to hinder the opponents from a safe distance, rather than get in the thick of it directly.
I know that patience is a virtue, but I am sometimes not virtuous. It has been more than 4 calendar days since "Fjeordi calmly moves 10’ south towards S3 drawing his double bladed scimitar as he goes he swings through and back," S3 still awaits its fate, three more undead are waiting with excitement for fresh meat, the zombie master is plucking arrows from his over sized flesh, and two characters prepare to fight the evil foes.
I'll figure out how to link ability text one of these days but draconic cry is:
Draconic Cry MotM, pg. 25
As a bonus action, you let out a cry at enemies within 10 ft. of you. Until the start of your next turn, you and your allies have advantage on attack rolls against the enemies that could hear you. You can use this 2 times per long rest.
Combat in pbp is funky if some shortcuts and streamlines aren't made. It is the nature of having so many people waiting for someone else before they can comment, if people are checking even twice a day, a round can still easily take several days to get through. Ways exist to streamline that but they're all homebrew, like group initiatives or flexible initiatives or predetermined action declaration etc. Not saying we should do any of that, just know this is a common hurdle in pbp.
Are we using Flanking? Is there an update to the map? I've been trying to track locations on a spreadsheet but I must have gotten some things incorrect.
I was having the same issue, but it seems to have cleared up now.

I'm probably laughing.
Yep!

@DM- Does Magnus start with Heroic Inspiration? I am getting up the rules learning curve.
@PoundThem, No?

@Chipper- Does your spell require me to declare the use of the extra D4 BEFORE I roll the D20? Or may I use it after I roll the D20? Pound Them
Any time. You can add after rolling. So long as it only gets used once per turn, and you two are within 30ft of each other.

I fear that something has gone awry.....
