“Confuses me as much as you to be honest. Why is there an entrance to the mine at all in the mess hall? Could have been some alternate entrance they just built over and sealed up not for secrecy but for protection, but it doesn’t really make any sense,” Okkar says. “No idea what the designers of this mine were thinking, truth be told.”
OOC: Okkar is in this case serving as a mouthpiece for some meta-commentary on the module. I have no idea why this is there.
“I agree on securing the upper floors, first, as some of you suggested,” Okkar adds. “I would guess there’s still the foreman’s room, and then it looked like the hall connected with the same chamber we saw on the other side, opposite the chapel door. Not much more to go.”
[OOC: However, as Greedyguts has his wits about him, it might be useful to have a way to bypass any traps he might have prepared for us... That is of course as long as he doesn't know about this secret tunnel. Is there anyway of telling how long it has been since someone used it? BTW, this is phillberrie speaking not Nanoc, he's probably forgotten about it already.]

This small room contains a bed, a clothing trunk, and an open wardrobe, all of which bear signs of skillful construction by dwarven hands. The bed and wardrobe have been stripped of their contents and the floor is covered with torn bedding and clothing. The trunk is closed and appears untouched
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Evan:
"This looks to be magically warded," says Evan, pointing out the line of glyphs carved on the base of the trunk. "Any thoughts, Taraven?" Evan continues, offering to add a bit of Divine Guidance if requested: 2

But it's probably a bit dodgy if he helps with Arcana...except it's probably a lock or a trap...which he does know...))
In this case I’ll allow it since this happens to be an intersection of arcana and nature. The Tiefling surmises that opening the chest will activate the tunes which are some kind of summoning, and the nature skill provides a bit of insight that the creature summoned would be a bound Earth Elemental.

"Does anyone know how many more rooms we have left to secure in this upper level?"

"Then to the Foreman's room we go."
[OOC: LOL. Fair enough. Nanoc will ignore the strangeness and once more take on his protective roll for Okkar.]

"There are yet two doors unopened, lass"
My current mud map...
OOC: This is a really good re-creation of the module’s map.

This small room contains a bed, a clothing trunk, and an open wardrobe, all of which bear signs of skillful construction by dwarven hands. The bed and wardrobe have been stripped of their contents and the floor is covered with torn bedding and clothing. The trunk is closed and appears untouched
Please roll Investigation, everyone entering the room.
Investigation (assuming Galtheon is helping me): 8
Evan:
If this is a reaction, here is a plain investigation check: 19
If we have the opportunity to help each other, Evan helps someone investigate (for advantage) and gives Guidance as well: 2
Gerrard Feldren - Human Noble in Ghosts of Saltmarsh
Kerric Brightblade - Elven Warrior in "Apocalypse"
The 15+ Investigate reveals a line of small glyphs carved along the base of the trunk. You can examine them for meaning with Arcana.

(( If players can help with Arcana, then Galtheon does... but he has not got the skill trained... ))
"Let me take a look"
Arcana: 10
Advantage roll if Galtheon can help: 5
Then add 2 from Evan's Guidance
(( ooc: Didn't take advantage, all natural...
