(DM, still need to know how far apart Leann is from her enemy. With him making his position known, I need to know if she can reach him in a round or if it will take longer. The positioning will determine if she moves towards him or does something else.)
You a knock from in front of you that sounds several times before stopping. You are not sure of the distance though you are confident that it will take longer than a round to reach the source.
Spoiler for Clove:
You don't see a handy rock. Everything is covered in vegetation. The hammer side of your halberd served well enough to make some loud knocks before you hide.
Leann moves a short distance towards the sound of the knocking, but only her standard movement. So I think that would be 15 feet with difficult terrain.
You move forward in the dense foliage but still see no sign of an opponent.
Spoiler for Clove:
You wait in a bush and you think you can make out something moving in the distance in front of you. It does not sound like the alien noises coming from the jungle but you can't make out what it might be.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(DM, I am assuming that you are tracking passive perception vs stealth here, if not then let me know since that would be how this sort of unseen business would be taken care of. Am I to assume I am no where close enough to my opponent, since Leann doesn't see anything? It is hard to know what is going on for mechanics when I don't read the other spoilers...)
OOC: Yes I am tracking passive Perception. If players do not mention trying to be stealthy I do not account for it.
Spoiler for Leann:
At the end of your turn, you try to hide by a very dense bush. The pounding noise stopped and you don't hear or see anyone approaching you.
OOC: If you try to move while being stealthy let me know. You only get half movement cause of the difficult terrain of the environment. Add that to half movement from stealth and you would be pretty slow. I know it is not RAW but to keep the math super simple if you move while trying to stealth I will just put your speed at 10 feet per round. I know it is supposed to be 7 or something like that but that will just make the math silly at this point and drag this out even more.
Spoiler for Clove:
The movement in the distance has stopped. You don't see or hear anything other the strange jungle noises anymore.
Felling no need to prolong this fight any further Clove stands up and greets his opponent. "I'm gonna guess that's not a normal animal over there. Instead of waiting around let's reveal and fight!
Again, I have no way to make an action as I have no details to make that action on. How far apart are we? What sort of cover do each of us have? I am going to guess my opponent is out in the open now, but I am only guessing at that. Since movement is 15 feet in this terrain, being more than 30 feet apart means we cannot even reach each other this round. Thus I don't know if I should attack, since I am not likely going to be within melee reach, throw a weapon, but, again, I don't know if I can even see my opponent. Please give more details so we can get this moving forward.
All trees and underbrush vanish in an instant. You are both now standing on a featureless gray plane 25 feet apart staring at each other. There is a slightly lighter gray nothingness above you for a sky.

She then uses her action to dodge.

Round 2.
I'm gonna wait this round

Hearing and seeing nothing Leann stops moving.

Round 4.
Seeing his opponent Clove rushes 20 feet, swing his glaive.
To hit: 18 dmg: 7
Then goes for a tap (bonus attack from polearm master)
To hit: 17 dmg:4
Leann is down.
