So I had a character I really liked who "retired" at the end of LMOP, but he was a Sun Soul monk and I don't have the right subscription to re-create him here. Nevertheless, this sounds like it could be an interesting campaign. Let's see what the dice have to say:
Ability scores: 121417161415
Very nice! I'll see what kind of character I can create with those rolls. What role needs to be filled by the replacement for your departing player?
Currently there is effectively a tank and a healer, so go hog wild.

Brief backstory:
Kano grew up in the slums of Neverwinter as one of a thousand street urchins. Barely scraping by, he earned his way by traveling paths too small for even the human children in the employ of the gangs. Yet, he was unsatisfied with his lot and decided one day to pass up an innocent looking mark. When his handlers decided to teach him a lesson, the unarmed young woman fought back with amazing skill and subdued the lot of them, earning Kano's undying appreciation, and, coincidentally, his freedom. Following Jade to the remote monastery in which she trained, the young halfling did his best to become a martial arts master. To his distress, his talents flowed from a different source, but in the strength of his personality he found a Ki power more than sufficient to compensate.
Roleplay Sample of your character in a situation you feel exemplifies them:
The light drizzle was slightly annoying but expected here in Neverwinter. The city sure did live up to its name, as ten miles out of town the hills were already covered with snow. Still it was a bit strange to be back in his old stomping grounds, having completed his training and returned to 'discover his purpose', or so the sensei said. Suddenly drawn out of his reverie, Kano sensed more than saw the shadows gather at the edges of his vision...a tactic he remembered taking part in all too well.
"Traveling alone, I see," said the largest of the thugs as he loomed in the opening of the alleyway to cut off any escape. Thankfully, there was no flash of recognition in his tone--either Kano had changed enough over the years, or this thug just wasn't very bright.
"You still have a chance to walk away. I suggest you take it," Kano said, trying to sound threatening--or at least convincing.
Taken aback for a moment, the leader glanced around and countered, "We've got you outnumbered and surrounded. Hand us that crystal around your neck and we might let you live."
Dropping into a fighting stance, Kano motioned with one hand to the leader, daring him to engage. Instead, the leader gave a quick hand gesture and all the gangers converged on him at once! Waiting until the last moment, Kano spun in a quick circle kick that boomed with Ki power and blasted the surrounding thugs! The fight was on in earnest, but the thugs were outmatched--if they came at him all at once, he unleashed the thunderous circle kick. If they came at him one or two at a time, lightning fast punches left the smell of ozone on their unconscious bodies.
The leader stumbled, his morale breaking as his followers fell or scrambled away. "Who...who are you," he managed between panicked breaths.
Kano made no verbal reply, but simply settled back into his defensive stance and motioned for the thug to approach...if he dared.
Turning as pale as the snowcapped mountains in the distance, the ganger turned and ran, leaving Kano alone in the drizzle, standing amongst the unconscious bodies of his assailants.
"No one chose to try and spare me this day. Pity," he thinks, then pulls his cloak tighter around his small frame and disappears into the night.
Roleplay Experience:
I started many years ago with Basic D&D, then played the various versions as time went on. MERP, GURP, Traveller, Champions, Runequest, Star Wars, Pathfinder, etc. all had their turns as well. I have started playing online in earnest on this site and the Paizo site over the past 2 years or so.

Kano is definitely a sorcerer, but he fights like a martial artist. Twinned Shocking Grasp looks a lot like punching if you are trained to cast spells that way, and a burst of sonic power affecting everyone adjacent to you while you spin as if kicking everyone in a circle seems like you just have advanced Ki powers. Take a look at the character sheet hyperlinked as his name in the post above and you can see the details—I just riffed off your DM style about rewarding creativity.

I thought so, as that's what my first guess was but I've also learned not to assume!
Absolutely! And Subtle spell means he can occasionally do a spell without speaking or moving, so that same Thunderclap executed as a Subtle spell looks like he can just slightly flex and a sonic shock erupts from him—a very Matrix effect (the inspiration for the character).

Those who have been chosen will be informed in 13 hours, roughly as I'll be consulting with my players as well.
To those who didn't make it, i enjoyed reading your ideas, and thought that this was one of the better 'groups' of applicants I have received, and I appreciate your interest.
Once again, you all created varied and interesting characters, so it was a hard choice. Those that were selected, welcome! Those that were not, I thank you for your interest once more, and I wish you luck in future endeavors. This truly was a hard choice because I saw characters that I never thought I'd see, and just shows how creative people can be.

A little confused.. are you a sorceror or a monk?
Occassional Dungeon Master.
@Raiketsu,
