If I can still post a application I have an idea for a character.
Name: Garcis
Race: Kobold
Class: Monk
Background: Gladiator
Backstory: Garcis was raised in a clan that served a red dragon for many generations. Out of boredom the dragon would make his kobolds fight each other to the death as a form of entertainment. Garcis happened to be rather skilled at this and earned the favor of the dragon, even being allowed a few books such as weapons and a few books that helped him learn to fight better.
The kobold's master was contacted by the cult of the dragon, finding them annoying as they did nothing but blather at him to the point of annoyance. While the group in the lair was destroyed in a blast of Fire, Garcis was sent out to learn more about them and then report back to his master. If the information was worthwhile he would consider joining the Cult of the Dragon in an alliance.
Along with a few other of his kin, Garcis left and eventually ended up joining up with the cult. Unfortunately they were attacked upon saying who they served. While somewhat wounded, Garcis managed to escape and end up finding his way to the town of Greenest. He has been playing the part of a cowardly creature to try and gain the sympathy of the town without much luck.
We have our chosen victims...I mean players (Those chosen are down below). I am still setting up another thread to begin the game and should be done shortly. Please be patient and I would like to say that I do intend to run through this whole campaign (fingers crossed we can) so if you are not determined to do this please message me so I can find another player.
Background (5 - 10 sentences, or whatever works) - try to include your place of origin, why you chose to become an adventurer, and some personal goalsI was a spy for a local lord in the sword coast when I became a believer in Bahamut. Learning that there was a evil dragon cult working in the area of Greenest, I went to investigate. Using my Changing abilities I became a dragonborn cultist and infiltrated the first few layers of the organization. I am currently in the party that is attaching Greenest, looking for an opportunity to defect and report to my supervisor.
See background (I used the Cult of the Dragon Infiltrator)
What led you to group up with the others : DM how do you want to handle this as I currently in the party that is attaching Greenest?
Just a bit of housekeeping before we get started. I do work and am quite busy as many of you probably are. However, I am just as excited to get started on this game. With that in mind, I expect that each person will post once a day. I will post as much as I can between conversations and whenever you guys ask questions directed at me. Please be patient with one another and understand that this is a "play by post" and with that it will be a bit slower of a game then if it was in person. Be kind and considerate of one another and their time. If you at any point feel like you can not continue the game or need a break, please PM me and we can work around it!
I have created another thread titled "Dragon's Might". Please join me there to begin your journey. I ask that you keep all out of character questions here in regards to backstory, DM questions, talking to each other out of character, etc... and keep all story related posts in the new thread. For those who have not done so already. I have posted what I would like your first post to be in the new thread and ask that you create a 2nd level character with point buy system. Please use the system that I posted below to reply to posts as it will be much easier to keep track of each other. Please reply here with any questions and I am excited to get started!
Logistical Notes
Please join this campaign with your character sheet:
Formatting: Each player picks a color for their character, which can be found in the UI on top of the reply box. Players should put their speech in bold in that color, and any thoughts in similarly colored italics. Any and all rolls should be put at the end of the post. ((Out of character comments and questions should be in double parentheses.))
Spoilers: You'll notice an exclamation mark near the right side of the reply box UI.
When adding a spoiler, please add at the top who you would like to be aware of the contents of that spoiler; players are asked to respect these requests and NOT open spoilers not directed at them.
*Drumroll* Rolling the Dice: Dndbeyond has a built in dice roller that you can use for any and all dice rolls, the dice icon in the far right of the UI. It has two options that you'll need, basic and combat. For basic, simply select the die type (usually a d20) and enter the modifier from your character sheet. Combat lets you roll attack and damage rolls simultaneously and really streamlines posting; to use it simply add the attack bonus, enter damage die & bonus, and select advantage/disadvantage when I tell you it's applicable.
Examples:
Barbarian: Grob yells, "Puny man!!" and attacks with his axe.
Attack: 7 Damage: 10
DM: You miss wildly
Rogue: "This looks like the job for me!" I walk up and investigate for traps.
