Thank you Serloxy. Yes, Players must want to play with the others. And they need to bend their Characters and Character Story towards that.
I get asked to DM every now and then for some tiny local gatherings of the local Fantasy Club here in my City, running Adventures for a weekend or so in a rented Youth Center.
I encountered a Player Type several times that made me starting to really get a little mad.... Socalled "Diva-Players". That... i do not know how to express it correctly... want to get "begged" by the other players to come with them. Funny sidenote, you also hear a lot of "Thats what my character would do" from them when they pull of some shit with the group and pee where they sleep. I do think they need that for their players (not their characters) EGO that they want other players to actually discuss with them to come with them in length, they then say "No", fully knowing that the group can't go without them... want a little more begging before they, after 1 hour or so say "oooookay, i honor you with my presence" and so on.
I tend to send now Messenger NPCs to the other players in that case, pulling them into the adventure.. i do not care if one players Ego is not fully satisfied getting Sugar blown up the ass by the other players so that he or she comes with them... if the player wants, he follows, if not, he or she can leave my table. The Adventure Train waits for no one.
Btw: Thats not "Roleplay". I know enough Roleplay from TTRPG, Theatre and Larp the last 30 years to know exactly when someone pulls off a Diva Stunt...
