For fun, let's make a character together. I will start you off with a name, race, some character art, and a little story, and then you can all fill in the blanks - the character is then a community character that everyone is free to use, either entirely or as an inspiration.
Ramona Corvinus-Beitumal
Race:
Half-Elf (Wood)
Age:
Twenty-six years old - Born 113 PR. (That's about 1471 DR, assuming the current year is DR 1497). The fact that she uses PR and not DR is critical.
Story:
The only child of Almar Beitumal of the Delorlin Wilds - a hunter of no small renown from a community of Wood Elves, and Alexandra Corvinus of the Bone Gnawers clan, a savage bloodline of forest-dwelling barbarians, who have been trying to wipe out their neighbours for decades, Ramona, was cursed from birth; she is considered a crossbreed and not welcomed by her mother's family, and barely accepted by her father's people, although it was with her father, and not her mother that she found a home.
Trained by her father to be a huntress, Ramona was sent out into Delorlin Wilds with her only friend, her half-sister Ysildea, for their final test. To pass, they had to execute a hunt on their own and bring back food for the community. They have three days to pass their test, and if they do not return by sundown on the third-day bearing food, they will fail. After two days, Ramona and Ysildea had not managed to make a kill, and time was growing short. Ysildea suggested that they return to the village and try again next year, but Ramona would not - more was riding on this hunt for her than for her sister, and she had to pass; it was her only chance to finally, indeed, be accepted, to prove that she was not just a burden and so persuaded her sister to try one more time by saying she knew of a place where they could make an easy kill, a place where deer gathered - there would be plenty of time she said, for them to complete the hunt and return by sundown. So, against her better judgment and for the strength of her sister's conviction, Ysildea agreed.
Unfortunately for the two aspiring huntresses, a young green dragon, looking to make a lair of his own, also had his eyes on the same prize. What should have been an easy kill turned into a nightmare in which Ysildea almost got killed. The pair only survived because, in their desperate retreat, they stumbled upon the ruins of a once great shrine of Lendys. Their pursuer, weary of the remnants of power that emanated from that place, broke off and retreated into the forest.
Lendys, angered by the unjust actions of the pursuing beast, gathered the remains of power that still existed in that area and used it to cause his shrine to crumble at Ramona's touch, revealing a set of armour and a sword - his gift to Ramona, to even the score.
With her new armour and weapon and carrying a badly injured Ysildea, Ramona made her way home. Their aggressor would not bother them again that day, although he would swear a blood feud for being denied his prize. Once they had returned home, the village healers managed to save the life of Ysildea. However, she would forever bear the scars, both physically and mentally, from her encounter with the dragon.
As punishment for almost getting her sister killed, for disobeying and ignoring her advice, straying into enemy territory, and for bringing the eyes of a dragon down upon them, the elders of her village banished Ramona until such a time as she had killed the beast, only then would she be allowed to return and be accepted by her people - her victory being proof of her power as a huntress.
Despondent, depressed and alone, Ramona left her forest home and wandered the world for a time, seeking a way to become stronger and regain her honour. It was hard for her, but slowly she rebuilt her life, finding a master to train her to use her new weapon, and taking work where she could as a bodyguard for travelling merchants.
Eventually, she made a small group of friends and began to travel with them, from place to place, looking for work and falling almost accidentally into the life of an adventurer.
Character Art: Ramona carrying an injured Ysildea.
Faction:
Through her travels and contact with merchant caravans, Ramona has drawn the attention of the Harpers, who seek to recruit her into their ranks.
Now it's your turn
Well, there you go; I have started the character of Ramona, and now it's your turn. I will use all your comments to flesh out this character. Let's finish building her together. What do you think? How should she be made based on the start I gave you all?

Oh, thanks; I will defiantly check that out. I hope that what I have written, though, still helps people because that was my intention. To help people who wanted a ready-made character, complete with a story and everything, or even those who might only need some inspiration to get them started creating a character of their own.
Of course, if anyone still wants to contribute, their ideas and thoughts will be most welcome.
I will keep editing the original post to add the rest of the details as people suggest them, or I create them.

This sort of thing has been going on for a while in another thread.
