I have a magical longsword that allows me to do a choice of either 1d6 radiant or 1d8 fire dmg on a hit. Is there a way I can input that into the character sheet so it will display correctly?
Not sure there is currently an easy way to switch from one type of damage to another within the digital character sheet, but I hope this is something they have taken into consideration for the imminent rework of it.
In the meantime, you can add the 1d6 radiant and 1d8 fire to it as notes from the customize dropdown, and then keep in mind which one is active/you are using. Or, you could create two copies of the same item, one with the Radiant damage active and another one with the Fire one active, and use either as needed.
UPDATE: Having messed around a bit with homebrew magic items, I can now confirm there is currently no way to have a series of damages added to a weapon and choose which one you want displayed. Nonetheless, the way it works right now is by adding the additional damage dice+type in the expanded view of the item, listing them right below the normal damage dice and type of the weapon. To do so, you have to add the damage as a "modifier" in the homebrew creation page, where you can choose the type, dice number and dice type. These will not appear in the collapsed view of the weapon in the attack section of the sheet, but they will appear upon expanding the weapon details.
If you use any Chrome extension with dice roller, I am not sure how having all the damage types added this way can affect the rolls (i.e. if the extension automatically rolls EVERYTHING), but if you do not, this is the best way currently to do this. (I am actually going to post a suggestion in the feedback forum to suggest something in regards to multi-damage types magic items)
Thank you all for the help, I created the item as Mouse outlined, since there is no built in dice roller or encounter tracker here yet it should work fine. Hopefully once they get to that point they'll be able to account for a situation like this. Now who wants to tackle the same problem for me in Roll 20 :D

Born in Italy, moved a bunch, living in Spain, my heart always belonged to Roleplaying Games
You can add both on the character sheet as a Custom Attack.
Just name it good so you know what is what.
I'm not stupid. I'm just unlucky when I'm thinking.
Is this what you are trying to accomplish. I modified the damage, we have a sword that does 1d8 of necrotic or radiant.
