So I got a video in my YouTube feeds from a smaller D&D channel named The Wintry Wyvern who went over the new official Gothic Lineages for Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft that were revealed during a livestream from another Youtubers who got early access to the book.
The two biggest changes to these Lineages seem to be the removal of the dual creature types (Dhampir and Reborn are just humanoid and the Hexblood is just fey) and a new feature for each Lineage called Ancestral Legacy, which states that if you choose to gain this new lineage at some point during your campaign, you can keep the skill proficiencies of that previous race as well as any climbing, swimming, or flying speed from the previous race. If you choose to not keep these features from the previous race or choose this option at character creation, you can instead gain two skill proficiencies of your choice.
There are a couple of other changes such as the change to how the Dhampir’s bite works and gaining a new feature that states it doesn’t need to breathe, the Reborn losing Darkvision, and the Hexblood losing Fey Resilience.
The loss of the the previous races' features when taking a lineage was something that irked alot of people, so I am glad they account for it somewhat by letting them keep natural movement options and skill proficiencies. Although I found the dual creature type interesting, I think it is the right choice to remove it for the sake of avoiding confusion.
I can't watch the video right now, so maybe they address it, but for characters changing into one of these lineages do they only keep skill proficiencies or do they also keep weapon proficiencies? I do find it odd that they seem to get to keep some knowledge but not other knowledge.

I like the changes I'm wondering if s race would be able to keep Large Frame like say a Goliath Dhamphir or such, but I'm bummed the Reborn lost Darkvision.
The Ancestral Legacy changes sound encouraging to me -- I wasn't very interested in these lineages, but I'm assuming these changes will hold for the second batch of UA lineages. Though I think darkvision should carry over as well, for any Reborn.
I really like the dual typing of humanoid and undead/construct/fey. I think it is one of the more interesting mechanics. I also wished they kept the full rolling origins table.

But I also wonder if a Halfling Dhampir retains Lucky trait. As written they all retain base race skills and movement types like flight, swimming so it will be interesting to see it all.
To be honest I still don’t know why Reborn is a race and not a background (though I suspect it has to do with WotC plumbing the bottom of the barrel for new ideas to take people’s money). If someone wants to keep a trait Reborn doesn’t allow for, just use the original race and reflavor a bit.

Some of the traits make no sense for a background. You can absolutely incorporate the concept into a backstory and stick with the original traits of whatever race you go with instead as you say though.

Other than that, I am fine with everything else.

Lucky isn't a skill proficiency or a speed, so if that's exactly what Ancestral Legacy allows for, then Lucky is lost.
