Hey y'all. Long time lurker, first time poster. I have a question. If not appropriate for this forum, I'll delete.
The company I work for (Pizza Hut) raises money every year for the local branch of a state wide non-profit. And, well, I'd like to run a D&D game fundraiser. However, I'm not sure about how to go about some of the details. Would I require the players "buy" their characters much like in a poker tournament? $10? $20? Then have spectators donate to "purchase" things like Advantage/Disadvantage for a player, Potions of Healing (all varieties), Random monster for the DM to mess with the characters? Those sort of things. (ideas needed) Also, people usually want something for their $, even if for a charity. Would the player's win something? What? pizza just for showing up and participating? Spectators entered in a drawing for something? Just need ideas and guidance. Face to face, not online.
While there is nothing really wrong with asking about fundraising for charity in the general forum, what you are doing is suggesting people pay to play D&D. There is a forum for that.
I've spent hundreds of dollars on D&D already. Many of us have.
Raising the price of having fun isn't what I would consider a good idea. Charity is when you give things away for a good reason, like giving away pizza for free.
I order from Pizza Hut once a week. They call me if the order seems strange to them. They know what I like, sometimes they have discounts, they hold special deals. The whole point of Pizza Hut is to make money by selling pizza, and everything else they have is meant to get people to buy more from the store, and especially, they sell pizza.
Maybe one day someone will show up with a free pizza without my having to place an order, but I'm not holding my breath.
