Draconic Essence. When you summon the drake, choose a damage type: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. The chosen type determines the drake’s damage immunity and the damage of its Infused Strikes trait.
It sounds like each time, the Ranger can technically change the type of dragon essence he summons. So one morning he summons a Cold Dragon Essence. The following morning, a Lightning One. Following morning a Poison one. Next day, back to Cold, then the next Fire, etc. Is that correct?
And since you can summon it with a spell slot, you can even swap it mid-day if you need to. For example, you realize all the enemies are fire resistant and you have a fire drake, you can spend a slot, swap it out for a cold one as an action. At least, that's how I read "until you use this feature to summon the drake again" combined with "unless you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to summon it."
