To be honest, I think a coin doesn't really fit in with dice. If we need a 50/50 chance on something, just.do odds or evens on another die. I know it's not as nice as having a dedicated item for it (which is why we have d4s and not just use d8s, d12s or d20s), but you can't roll a coin or use a dice tower or anything that makes it as nice to use as dice.
I think a question might be whether it's worth having odd sided dice. There's no way to nicely replicate a 7 sided die (roll a d20, if it's greater than 7, subtract 7, and that's your answer, if it's still greater than 7, reroll?), but having a wider variety of damage dice will allow for a greater variety in mechanical representation of weapons and spells.
On the other hand, people don't have those dice, so mandating them could upset them, and it might cause compatibility issues with 5e.

I personally think that a coin (or d2) would be a great addition to dnd, your thoughts?

Makes sense, thanks for replying.

Well you could do a d7 in dnd beyonds dice roller. Just use the animation for d8s and have it never roll an 8.
