This is a post that may be of interest to those of us (like me) who insist, during Play-ByPost combat, on using the dice roller integrated into the forum.
You will probably agree with me that if on one hand the dice roller has the advantage of simplicity, on the other hand it does not have that of completeness!
For just about any situation that isn't quite the most common, the [ roll ] formulas generated by the dice roller aren't adequate (or there's just no way to generate them automatically).
Just a few examples, to make you understand what I'm talking about: the dice roller does not properly manage - Cases where you have a variable to-hit bonus - for example a die (Bless spell, Bard's Bardic Inspiration...) - Cases where it is convenient to keep damage of different types separated - because your target may have resistances/immunities/vulnerabilities to some damage types and not others - Cases where your crit does damage other than just double weapon dice (Half-Orc's Savage Attacks, Barbarian's Brutal Critical...) - Cases where you crit with less than 20 (Champion's Improved Critical...) - Cases where, when you hit, you crit automatically (Assassin attacking with surprise...)
To overcome these annoying shortcomings and avoid spending a long time correcting the formulas by hand, I created a small tool (for now in the form of a small and simple web page) that is more complete. I've been using it for a while now and it's very useful to me. I then let some fellow players try it as well and they were satisfied with it; so I thought I'd make it freely (and free of charge) available to everyone, so that anyone who likes to use it can do so. If you want to try using it, the page is freely available - the tool generates the appropriate formula (for attack and/or damage as appropriate) in page and you can copy/paste it in the forum post where the fighting is taking place.
Oh, and if you choose to try using it and spot something that can be added and improved, you can let me know - if it's feasible, I'll try to upgrade my tool in my spare time.
Could I make a suggestion? Have an option for Sharpshooter/Great Weapon Master, where you can take -5 to hit then get +10 damage if it connects. It's quite simple to do mentally, but I imagine it would be easy to code in and just makes it a bit more comprehensive.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

Ty for the suggestion! Yes, it will be easy to code; I'll definitely put this in. 😀

Just released the updated version! Added the new "Power over precision" checkbox to activate the -5/+10 a Sharpshooter/Great Weapon Master can take. Enjoy!
