last feature added that went beta was containers in Jan 2022 and then it was GA a month later.
What value are we getting out of this as part of our perks? My recommendation would be to just remove the bullet unless it is going to be a more regular feature.
Yeah, staff has pretty much abandoned D&D Beyond, it’s beyond frustrating. WOTC has obviously purchased yet another item that they plan on running into the ground. Supposedly they’re focusing on their VTT but that is years down the line, assuming it’s ever released. The images available appear very cartoony and more for young adults.
The VTT is being released this year (at least, assuming things haven't changed).

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Not really true, it’s an extreme beta. Hard to call it a release. And none of that changes the quality. A simple look at the pics shows it’s unlikely to be something I at least would ever use.
It will be interesting to see if they give subscribers early access to the VTT. In the past, I would have automatically assumed it would be available to subscribers during the Alpha release, like the combat tracker was, but now I'm not so sure. It doesn't make much difference to me as I use another VTT that I absolutely love and I really strongly dislike the Aesthetic they chose to go with for the official VTT, so I won't be using it no matter how hard they push it or whether we, as subscribers, get early access or not. Still, that said, it seems like it should be early access for subscribers.
Yeah, the list is laughable. There's gotta be a web dev around somewhere that can update at least some of the outdated info. We don't need different promises, just remove these lol. Master tier is useful for sharing content. All the other is fluff when/if it happens. Its a convenience thing and thats it, but I play a couple times a week at minumum so it works.

I would implore you to take the above with a grain of salt--it looks a lot like the person is using your thread as a launching point for a multi-post complaint about the VTT, and the "D&D Beyond is going to die!" doomsaying is both old and repeatedly unsubstantiated.

Let's give you, OP, some information which might be a tad helpful.
It is actually fairly common for subscriber perks to list that they provide early access to features, but only have that particular perk be implicated rarely--D&D Beyond is no different and is not promising something out of the ordinary. After all, development of products takes time--and having something like this be a "regular feature" would mean constantly churning out new content at a likely unsustainable pace.
But what does this lack of content mean for the future of D&D Beyond? Couldn't the long gap be a sign that the doomsayers are correct?
No, not really.
D&D Beyond is a big, widely used company--but it does not have a particularly large staff. Not on the development scale of something like a video game company or many other websites. That means they cannot work on a thousand projects at once--they have to be selective about what they do. Right now, they have two massive changes coming to the site--there is the VTT, which, even if you do not intend to use it, one should recognize is a massive developmental project which many folks are interested in. Additionally, there is a semi-new edition being released--and it does not make an iota of sense to invest too heavily in ******** when the rules for 5.5e are not yet final. Spending development time on something which you will start to phase out in the next year is not exactly the best idea in the world. It is also possible Wizards is doing other work towards their goal of making D&D Beyond their "central hub" for all things D&D, in ways we do not yet know.
Some other important data points, if you are worried the lack of content might be a sign D&D Beyond is dying:
- Wizards has been moving more and more content, including official announcements, over to Beyond and Beyond's Twitter. This shows Wizards not only is saying "we want Beyond to be our central hub for all things D&D" they are starting to move more things to Beyond. That shows faith and commitment to the long-term health of Beyond.
- Wizards consistently touts D&D Beyond and Beyond's long-term growth potential as a benefit to stockholders--you don't tell stockholders you have faith in a product you expect to kill off as, when the product does go under, so too will any stock value propped up by the expectation of that product's growth.
- Wizards spent $146 million acquiring Beyond. While Hasbro has certainly made some questionable decisions before, the very large investment from a company trying to be careful and avoid risk shows they believe D&D Beyond is something with strong potential, worth contributing significant (and, given some of their financial woes, difficult to muster) investment.

Overall, I would not think too much about this particular perk or try to read anything too much into how often it is utilized. It is a nice boon for if and when it becomes implemented but, as with many other sites, it is not a boon one should expect to use all that often. Fortunately, there are lots of other useful things in that subscription package, and some things on the horizon where we can reasonably expect the early access might be nice.
I logged in today to see Maps was a new alpha. Happy to see something and wanted to shoutout Thanks. I know it won’t be perfect but it is nice to be able to contribute and watch things evolve again.

Unfortunately, they just changed the way subscriptions work. You'll need a master tier subscription to use the new map tools.

That's just saying "if there are any" as new tools will probably never be a "regular" thing.

Yeah, they’ll be hard pressed to replace Foundry for me.
