A silly idea it would be to have a "Wild West" D&D setting, a setting where players can use steam magic, firearms more readily available, magical trains, unique monsters equipped with some very silly items, new subclasses, maybe transfer the gunslinger subclass into a full class. There are many things that they could do with this, one thing for certain I would buy it in a heartbeat, whenever I acquire the spare money to do so. Would allow for a bit more hectic stuff in the game, maybe even cursed ghost trains, or armored trains being strange moving bosses that can cause structural damage with cannons, many things can be done here.
Like special magical guns with unique effects, maybe a few more types of firearms can be added, like the gatling gun, or other goofy items for players to carry. I can see one wielding a small two-handed cannon of some sort, would allow players to customize and make more options in their games and characters. I do hope in the future that this will be implemented, but one can only hope. Gatling Guns, Lever Guns, Revolvers, Cannons, all these being items that can also have magical variants with unique effects is always a lovely idea. Could also add in unique clothes that give a benefit or two, or armors that give the players unique benefits to the game. Maybe even a steam powered suit of armor, and, or weapon. Anything and Everything would be lovely to see in this type of setting.
A good concept though is what others with a similar thought can make in the comments, hopefully dev's see this, there is a small chance it might come true, despite a few telling me they would never do a western sourcebook. One can still hope.
It sounds like you are really wanting a 5E D&D sourcebook specifically. You're probably already aware of this, but a couple of other systems are mentioned in this thread that sound like they have at least elements of what you described.

To be fair, I haven't ever been on the forum before, I just decided to write this silly little idea on a whim, because I love western settings, but always wondered why there was never a D&D setting for it. Would enjoy a setting full of gunslingers of tieflings, elves, tabaxi, etc. Would be a bit of fun to figure out other things, though unsure if it'd ever be made. Though it is a neat idea too.
Granted the reason I want a sourcebook in D&DB is so I can play it with Avrae on Discord. It's a bit difficult to play with content that isn't available for that system. So I've been waiting patiently for Official content to touch on the matter.
Sounds like it could be the really, wild, wild west to me. Could be fun! How similar is Eberron to this? That's pretty Steampunk isn't it, or am I thinking of something else?

I think a wild west setting with steampunk, magic, guns, explosions, trains being robbed by magic users, among other things are more then welcome. Just mainly want a Western setting in D&D. Where one could make a full Western campaign and use it on D&DB/Avrae without much issues. Would be a fun thing to play, and hope it's done in the future. I know for certain I would buy it.
Maybe you should make one. I’m not saying that to be a jerk, it’s more along the lines of advice often given to writers: you should write the book you always wanted to read. Because the odds of an official Wizards-produced setting like that is slim — unless you count Eberron. But it could be an area ripe for 3rd party.

I could though it'd be a bit difficult for me to figure out how to write it down a bit due to me not being the best writer, not by a longshot. And I've tried multiple times, it took me years to finally attempt DMing again but I'm not certain I can do such things, like writing my own sourcebook.
I have not, but I do hope if not official Western content, some form of Western content becomes sold on here.
For that to happen they'd need a western setting of their own. The closest I can think of is Dark Sun, but (a) it would have to be more of a medieval western since guns don't really fit there, and (b) WotC have already said they have no plans to update Dark Sun due to its trickier themes.
You could probably run a Western-themed game out of the Mournland/Blade Desert in Eberron, and as settings go that's much more gun-friendly.
The 1st Edition DMG had guidelines for converting characters that involved very much this kind of thing, and there have been a LOT of third party supplements over th eyears that have done exactly this.
None caught on because no one really ever agrees on how to use firearms in a D&D structure, lol.
Folks want them to do like d10 and d12 and have multiple shells per action and all kinds of stuff.
My new campaign specifically has a western flavored locale, though it isn't dependent on steam, specifically for some stuff. There is a train, a train station, stagecoaches, ranches, sheriffs, outlaws, Posses, gunslingers, and even the style of clothing, lol, but it likely still wouldn't make folks super happy.

Sounds like Eberron to me.

Have you tried searching "Western" under DM's Guild? I saw a number of adventures and gunslinger archetypes there.

Just thinking the very same thing.
As for guns and stuff I always liked Twilight 2000. The system worked.
