we're in the tome of the 9 god, and party is having nightmares. we encountered night hags before and with a decent arcana check we figure out the issue.
our wizard casts tiny hut, but the dreams continue? Meta game knowledge I know etherealness cant pass though force walls.. so I bring it up to the DM just to make sure. he replies the hag is with you when the spell is cast... inside the bubble of force.
So I hatch a plan... tiny hut only can hold 9 mid creatures any extra are weeded out but the hag is in another plane of exitance and CANT be affected by spells from there so she stay put. I ask the wizard to cast tiny hut using glyph of warding. when we all fell a sleep I stood watch. as soon as I saw a member tossing and turn in their sleep I woke up the party and told them to eave the hut with the glyph concentrating on the spell even the wizard would leave. than I told my warlock to cast into the bubble (by sticking his hand in) Eldritch blast randomly in. than my DM say you hit nothing she left.. HAHAH no she cant she can not go though a wall of force... DM replies she was there at the beginning of the spell so she can leave.. I chime in and say In the wording of her ability of etherealness she cant pass though force and cant be affected by spell affects. the part of the spell that would allow her to leave did not affect her as well as the part that would have weeded her out of the space the only part of the spell that matters is the force wall.
so we affectively captured a night hag.
am I wrong in my thinking
in the end the DM says it would work but my druid would have no idea that was possible. and nerfs it... eh I tried the wizard rolled poor on the arcana check and couldn't come up with my plan ether so we had nightmares for a few more nights
The way we've always played it is that Leomund's Tiny Hut does not block the Ethereal Plane, because the spell text does not explicitly state that it does. Compare it to Wall of Force, for example, which does explicitly state that it blocks travel on the Ethereal Plane as well.
I'm not in your game so I don't have any room to make comments, but it feels like you and your DM are trying to "one- up" each other, which seems odd to me. But so long as you're enjoying it, keep on keeping on

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
Similarly, Forcecage explicitly states that it blocks travel on the Ethereal Plane as well. I think it's a pretty reasonable interpretation that Tiny Hut does not block the Ethereal Plane, and thus the Night Hag is free to come and go as it pleases.
I try to ask questions here so no to tie up the game. the story ever happened it was just an example of a plan I had asked my DM and group about before a game he said it was to compilated the part of my character not being able to know about it is true 'because meta gaming'.
Creatures over the 9 permitted by the tiny hut spell aren't weeded out -- the spell simple fails if there are more than 9 creatures.
The tiny hut has lots of loop holes in it, not least of which is that breath weapons are not blocked by it (they are neither spells nor physical objects)
