So am playing in a custom home brew campaign as a divine soul sorcerer with an AC of 14. The DM has made a shop for us so we can acquire items for a price. We roll see if item is found that week or not. The thing I requested was Elven Chain for an armor boost. If I knew how to post the stat block for what it does, I'd do it, but it basically says "You get a +1 to AC while wearing it and you are proficient with this armor even if you are not proficient with this type of armor"
So I mess with it on here and see my AC going up by two to 16 instead of expected 15. So I realized that I get the original AC of Chain Shirts which is 13+Dex Mod (Max 2) +1 from being technically magic armor. That's how Elven Chain meant to work right?
The description for Elven Chain unfortunately presumes that you already understand how it works, rather than explaining itself in a way that assumes you don't already know (a problem that happens a lot in TTRPGs and affects D&D).
It's a chain shirt, so you get the benefits of wearing chain shirt, then you add +1AC on top of that, being a +1 chain shirt with a special name.
It does mention that it's a chain shirt, but if you don't already understand the significance of that, then it's not obvious how it should work. How DDB has coded it seems to be correct from your report.
If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
