One of the characters I play in a campaign over Zoom was designed to partner with another character, our backstories deeply intertwined. Now that the other character has died (we've had a crazy past few sessions. Time elementals, elder brains, chaos gods. It's been a weird couple months), playing mine isn't really fun anymore without that role-play dynamic between me and the other character. Now, as I am incredibly indecisive, I decided to turn to you guys, the ever creative DDB community, to help me decide what to play next. So, put your ideas for characters in the replies below!
Now, some info about the campaign:
the game is a role-play heavy, sandbox adventure set in a detailed home-brew world of our DM's design. The game is very rules lite, as our sessions are short and we don't have much time to argue over rules. Currently, we are a cavern system deep below the earth, which is connected to the Well of Souls, where the spirits of dead people go before being reincarnated if they were not chosen by a deity for an afterlife.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I have three main suggestions, based on how I make characters.
Method 1: Chaos. How many Species/Race options do you have access to in the game, count them, roll a dice. (me I have 87 options on DnDB, 54 ) then I roll for class ( 14 classes on DnDB 6 doing a d12 as I'll remove Artificer and Blood Hunter. Clearly I will also roll dice for Stats, because pure chaos. Highest in primary lowest in the least important. ( 8 roll]4d6dl1[/roll] roll]4d6dl1[/roll] roll]4d6dl1[/roll] roll]4d6dl1[/roll] roll]4d6dl1[/roll] 4d6 drop lowest 18 highest, 3 lowest)
How about a deep gnome or duergar ancestral spirit barbarian. In living near the well of souls, they've become a magnet for disembodied spirits of the dead.
Also, I'm seriously interested in hearing more about campaign with chaos gods and time elementals.
Stats ( well the dice bot failed ) So manual rolling... Using base roller in DnDB
Stats should be Wis +2 /Str +1 /Con
My luck in digital dice was good: 11, 15, 17, 9, 17, 17 ...
str 18, Dex 15 con 17 int 11 wis 19 chr 9
extra language Undercommon, Background acolyte, Celestial & Dwarven, religion set it to the one that deals with the area you are in. bingo bango done. Levels, spells, subclasses, and other choices are all you: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/129595598
Next post other ways I make characters, less random.
method 2 ... recreate my favorite character from any past game... in my case I have three favorites I recreate in new and differing ways every time.
- The Elf Pirate (Mariel / Mary Hell) ... main in WOW, Main in many MMORPGs over the years. She's been Wizards, Rogues, Warlocks etc in 5th edition. In BG3 she's a Seldarine Drow.
- Chaos Gnome ( Kompressor/Bhuemka Bhuem) see my avatar. Started as a WOW character. in 5th usually a Rock Gnome Artificer (Trust me lots of variations still possible)
- Gail Alfhiem - Shadar-Kai Grave Cleric/Rogue/Warlock gender working out character, way back in the 90s she was born a male Elf named Gilbert. Yeah... things happened.
So for you, if you have access to Humblewood... Mapach Artificer. Seriously I kind of want to play one... sadly I'm stuck as a DM.
Method 3, least favorite... but it can work, think What class do I never play. Barbarian. Then ask What Species do I never play (Core species only) Dwarf/Human.
Then I build a character around that.
I made Loka the Wild magic Dwarf they were Non-binary based on a mix of mythical Loki and Sigyn. I also made... sorry about this name ...Cheeky Elizabeth Teartrickle The Wytch Hexblood Wild Magic Barbarian. RP she's a Human witch, the Two handed Axe is her wand of Smiting.
So, this is gonna require a bit of explanation

these rolls will also help determine backgrounds.
Will make a few posts. As I want to see my rolls.

56 = Orc (Tasha's Cauldron of Everything)
3 minus Artificer and Blood Hunter = Cleric
