I have read and searched "How to" on homebrew weapon modifiers and nothing seems to be working. I created a shadow bow modeled after a long bow. I added a modifier - Modifier = damage (tried bonus too), subtype = longbow (tried others like acid etc.), ability score = str ( I changed this from int, dex etc.), dice count = 2, dice type = d6, fixed value 4. None of these combinations worked. I tried this on a paladin and gave him the proficiency in longbows thinking that was it. I changed the ability score from dex to int to str and that didn't work. No where does is give me another 2d6 to roll, assuming this is manual and not integrated into the game which seems kind of outdated. It is 2025 for Pete's sake here. We should be able to edit weapons as we see fit and add extra dice. Not hard to change the coding. But I digress. Even the fixed count of 4 did nothing. I changed toons and gave it to a rogue, same issue. What am I missing??
Also, if I use a long bow as the base weapon to model the player is stuck with 1d8 forever despite their level? I see no other base weapons that are ranged that would increase the die count.
Attack example - clicked on bow dmg to roll, rolled a 7, and 7 was the result. At minimum it should have been an 11 with the fixed modifier value no?

I found that the ability - Str is what is giving the +3 but only if the player was attuned to the weapon. If not attuned the +3 goes away but the fixed value and the dice count/type are not taking effect, manual? Now if I model the weapon after a shotgun and leave the ability modifier it no longer works. I even gave my guy the shotgun proficiency but I get the default 2d8+1 and not the ability one. Weird.
