I am trying to figure out how to roll attacks for things from the extras tab on a character sheet into D&Dbeyond's VTT. Something such as a pet or wildshape. They don't seem to have clickable attacks or damage rolls like the character sheets have but I assume there must be a way to do it and I am just blind. Help would be appreciated!
As far as I know, you can not roll from the extras tab. You can’t even roll when the pet is embedded in the class, like the drakewarden’s drake. You just have to do an arbitrary roll and do the math yourself.
The only other option is to make a custom monster stat block, so the DM can see the macros in the encounter tracker. Players have no real options unless you're willing to make custom actions for each roll type.
I found a workaround by creating the pets, mounts etc as homebrew monsters, then add them as monster tokens in the VTT and then change the side to a player character and you have full access to HP and dice rolling. Its a bit of pain, but it works. Also for summoned creatures that increase with player level you have to edit the homebrew each time the player levels up. I hope this helps.
For a familiar or wild form, the smoothest method is: Add a custom attack in the Attacks & Spells tab → you keep everything clickable and the damage rolls are automatic.
