so i've been watching play-through's of resident evil 3, and combined with my love of recreating popular characters i decided to give creating Nemesis a try. Now this one is going to be challenging to fully put together which i why i thought it might be fun experience to open up to anyone else curious enough to lend their opinion on how to do this.
i have nailed everything down yet, (in fact i've just begun) but i think it will have to be some mix of artificer and barbarian. artificer to gain access to the various weapons he uses such as the flamethrower, rocket launcher and all that, plus access to Thorn-whip with is perfect for his tentacle attack, and barbarian because the UA path of the beast path can maybe help us get his later abilities, when he begins morphing into a horrible monster.
as for race well so far i've consider orc, Minotaur and simic hybrid. i wanted to choose hybrid since they're basically experimental amalgamations but none of the options really fit his capabilities. Minotaur was close but the horns thing throws it off. ultimately i chose OG Orc because they are big, strong, ugly, and can charge closer to you as a bonus action, all key traits that are shared with the nemesis hunter.
now i'm still struggling with the *infect people and give them weird tentacle heads bit, and im also struggling to replicate his later forms. (not that you would normally want to become a wall of flesh in a dnd campaign, but that's not the point now is it.
i'd love to here everyone comments as well as your own opinions on how to create this iconic character.
I love remaking characters from other media. But for nemesis I think you want to go for a barbarian/monk/druid.
Crazy but hear me out. Nemesis is dumb and likes to slap stars members around so he will be un armed most of the time. Work with a buddy to be your artificer umbrella handler. He will be artillerist and make his canon become your weapons as the rocket launcher is the force canon. Literal flame thrower and that little device on nemesis is the defender. He keeps his infusion to him self and his bonus actions are extra attacks for you.
But for you go for the violent assassin background and goliath. Can flavor your undead or just ugly wrapped in cloth/leather strength and con bounses are super. point buy Str15 dex 15 con 12 int 8 wis 13 char8. You want to be barbarian 1st level get perception and intimidation (poor intimidation rolls at first but your actions will help sell it). Get it to 4 and go zealot. You will be easy to raise from the dead by your handler. nemesis gets mad.and extra nacrotic damage/1per turn.Asi strength then a big spoon full of monk to 10 raise that unarmed strike inhuman speed and ki healing accuracy(tashas)and stunning strikes. 2x attack evasion and sweet poison and disease immunity. At level 3 go astral. The extra force damage is nice but the cheese is the plus 5 reach. Flavor it as your body is stretching and morphing no ghost powers.asi strength to 20 then con splash some dex for AC. And then go druid to level 6. At level 2 go spore the necro aoe is nice on reaction for dps if your not evading fireballs.the temp hp from spores wild shape is good. And in tasha the spore does nacrotic damage d6 per hit.but the big ticket is at level 6 you can raise one(wismod/day) zombie. You get druid cantrips and spell casting. Most from circle of spores necro themed spells.like animate dead so more t virus. Rage astral form and wildshape(spore) seem to work in harmony but spell casting is no go with rage . Rage last like turn 2 as the spore wildshape is maintained by temp hp not concentration if your dm is sketchy on it. And ki is free game as long as it doesn't say cast a spell like shadow monk. So hunt the knights and rangers of stars. As your handler gives you a canon to hold as you slap infect and grapple to your exposed hearts content.and they help you blast or fry them with their bonus action on their turn.
You could drop Barbarian take Artificer(artillerist) . lower Str up Dex and Wis some for DMG and AC.up int to 13 so you can crossclass you wont be grappling or shoving your victims to much but you will still unarmed strike decently and using the eldrich cannon for your umbrella weapons. this way might mess up spell slot growth due to the half caster and full caster combo.
you could even drop Barbarian take Ranger(If you go the artificer handler route). fighting style terrain bonus and favored enemy and hunters mark foes. keep up the stalker hunter part of him. up dex for ac and unarmed strike dmg or con for HP. you could splash some wisdom for better perception rolls and better druid ranger Spell DCs
