Is there a way to remove a base weapon's property(ies) when creating a new homebrew magic items? For example if magic crossbow automatically reloads after its fired with a bolt magically appearing in the firing position... can the ammunition and/or the reloading property be removed?

Maybe... Their might be a modifier called "ignore weapon property." It may work (the new artificer infusion uses this).
