I know I can just override the hp to enter the correct amount but I cannot get it to work otherwise. Hill dwarf cleric with +3 con and +1 dwarves toughness. Level 1 it shows I start with 12 hp which is correct. I rolled a 6 when leveling up to lvl 2. So that should be 6+3+1=10. 12+10=22 for lvl 2, right? But when I put in 6 into the rolled hp and apply it gives me 14 which is only 2 more than the previous level. If I add 4 into the hp modifier it just raises it to only 18...what am I doing wrong?
In the rolled HP field you need to enter in the total you have rolled across your levels. So you should add your rolled number (6) to the number that was already present (8). Next level you'll see 14 in that field, and you'll add whatever you roll to that 14.
And how does the player remember over the course of years and levels what they rolled previously?
There needs to be a 'level up' screen which asks only what that level's hit die rolled, in addition to ensuring the player sets all the needed gains for that new level. Spells, slots, features, subclass choices, etc.

If you're using D&D:B, it already does do this. If you're using the "fixed" default option, the sheet will assume the average roll for that dice size and add it automatically when you choose what class you advance at that level. You can do the same thing with "manual", you just have to do the math yourself, but it remembers the total from last time.

Hello Cozmo,

I hope that helps!
Ok that makes sense thanks
