I hope this is the right place to ask this, but here goes (sorry it's long winded):
I already own 5e D&D PHB, DMG, and MM, and I'm aware that there is no way to get that licence translated to D&D Beyond. That's fine, and I'm considering doing so given 'in person' sessions are not likely to happen for my group given social distancing and etc. I'm about to host a brand new homebrew campaign for my group, and I wanted to host everyones character sheets on DDB given the ease, but I'm aware that most sub-classes are not open to players who don't have PHB licences attached to their accounts.
My question: If I do buy this digital content and create a campaign with characters pre-made, will my players be able to choose the full range of sub-classes for those characters after they 'claim' them? I already noticed that when a player chooses one of my characters it's removed from my pool of 6 characters, so I was unsure what happens here. Will every player need to own licences?
I tried to search for the question in case it had already been asked, but I wasn't sure how to phrase it, so sorry if it's already answered elsewhere!
You can share content you purchased with the members of your campaign. You do not even need to pre-load the characters. Each player can build their own characters using all the options you purchased.
I confess I don't really understand the way DDB really works outside of the character creator, and I'm not really sure what the 'campaigns' are for other than organising characters (and sharing content?). I was expecting to just run it over discord or something like that, since I don't really like virtual table tops and want to move away from having table maps anyway (I wanted to rely more on descriptions and have players hand-map as they went since I feel giving them a map broke immersion). If someone was to run a homebrew this way and they already owned the hardcover books was there any other content you'd recommend buying?
We've only ever played Lost Mine, so we're all still novices. Any advice is welcome! :)
Edit: I just read though the pinned thread covering what I asked here to a degree, but I noticed to share any content with players (i.e. sub-classes) I'd need an active paid subscription?
You can share content if you have a Master tier account. If you do not have the Master Tier, you will need to edit the characters each time they level up. I had to do that when I had a hero level acct.

That's great to know, thank you!

I'm not sure how that works either. I'm a player not the DM in my campaign. I just know I have access to the stuff he shares.
