At level 14 a Dragon Origin Sorcerer gains the following ability:
At 14th level, you gain the ability to sprout a pair of dragon wings from your back, gaining a flying speed equal to your current speed. You can create these wings as a bonus action on your turn. They last until you dismiss them as a bonus action on your turn.
If a player is wearing ACTIVATED Boots of Speed (Dbl normal movement) thereby providing a fly speed of say 60 for a human, when the boots are deactivated, does the fly speed remain 60? It reads "gaining a flying speed equal to your current speed". The player interprets this as you gain a flying speed to your current speed at the moment of sprouting the wings and maintain that speed regardless of if the boots are active or not as long as he doesn't dismiss them.
The way I read it, the Fly speed remains equal to your current speed. If your speed changes, it becomes a new current speed and the Fly speed changes with it. That way any modifiers or changes applied to your speed, whether you want them or not, can’t be circumvented by flying. If your Fly speed was unaffected and remained the same as when you sprouted your wings Slow wouldn’t halve your Fly speed, for instance. I don’t think that’s the intent of the mechanic.

It seems a potential interpretation, thoughts?
