This is a tradition based on the idea that I want to incentivize players to use different types of spells in the same combat. I think I came up with a fun idea of how to do that. Some numbers almost definitely need to be adjusted, as I haven't play-tested it yet. Feedback and Critique is very welcome, as I'm new at home-brewing. If someone can come up with a better name send it my way, as the one I have now sucks.
Arcane Tradition: The Studious
Cram Session
When you select this school at 2nd level, once per day, you can prepare a number of spells up to your intelligence modifier during a short rest.
In the Zone
Starting at 2nd level, whenever you use a spell slot of 1st level or above, roll a d6.
On a 1 or 2, if you cast a spell next turn requiring concentration, or you are already concentrating on a spell, gain a flow point.
On a 3 or 4, if you cast a spell next turn requiring a saving throw, gain a flow point.
On a 5 or 6, if you cast a spell next turn requiring an attack roll, gain a flow point.
If you spend a round without gaining a flow point, lose all flow points.
Each flow point you have gives you +1 to your Saving Throws, Spell DC, and Spell Attack Bonus.
Brainstorming
Staring at 6th level whenever you make an attack roll, ability check, or a saving throw, you may spend two flow points to reroll that die, you must use the new roll.
Utter Focus
Starting at 10th level, you may, as a bonus action, expend a spell slot of 4th level or above to gain two flow points. You can only do this twice per short rest.
At One with Oneself
Starting at 14th level, roll 2d6 for your in the zone feature.

Nice feature, increases versatility without overpowering the tradition, imho. I'd still limit it somehow, like adding a max spell level available (4th?)

This is interesting, but I have the feeling it's a tad too random. Would it maybe be better to tie to a specific type of spell a followup type that would grant the Flow point? Like: spell requiring attack roll -> concentration spell next turn grants Flow ; concentration spell - spell giving saving throw next turn grants Flow ; saving throw spell -> spell attack next turn grants Flow I feel it would make things a bit more "studious" and tactical than a roll.

Possible wording fixes aside, I think these are good as-is. Maybe I'd just limit Utter Focus to onece per short rest, though.

I'd change this completely, tbh. I'd rather make it something like "If you start a combat without Flow points, you gain one Flow point. Additionally, one Flow point is granted when the same type of spell as the previous turn is cast, adding to the combinations from In the Zone."
What do you think?
