So one idea I really would like to do is a lycan who's trying to manage the curse without the help of a magic organization. I was wondering if anyone knew a particularly good homebrew subclass. Particularly for Fighter, Monk, or Barb.
Note I mean actual lycan, not pseudo-lycan a la beast barbarian.
Probably not what you are looking for, but the 3rd party book Grim Hallow somethingoranother has a bunch of stuff on lycanthropy (as well as vampirism). More of the disease variety rather than a pure subclass to my understanding though.

Yeah, interesting enough, but I'm looking for subclasses.
Hm... I have the rumblings of an idea, but more fitting for a Rogue, I think. Pack Tactics + Sneak Attack, and adding some flavor to the Cunning Action options...
It might be closer to what you want? Per se, it is not a true lycanthrope/werewolf and more close to the Beast barbarian, but there should be no issue with just flavoring it as one, as the mechanics are there.

That's still not quite what I'm looking for. I guess what I'm looking for is a 'mundane' werewolf. Something that represents someone who's struggling with the curse without the backing of an order. And I'm looking for a true lycan.
Let's see if the link works to my rough draft. It may be enough to scratch the itch. Just, uh, pardon the names. SUPER rough draft with no fluff at the moment.

No, I intentionally left the train wreck of pure mechanics unpublished because I was under the impression that it would work with the direct link. I have gotten views on stuff shared with my group that I was pretty sure were not from me using the same method. I could absolutely be wrong and I manage to sneak in an extra view.
I'll copy and paste it once I get home, I suppose.
I chose Rogue as the base class. My perception of lycanthropy is more of a passive trait rather than an active one and Rogue is the king of passive abilities. I also thought the base Rogue abilities meshed really well with the overall concept of an agile but deadly combatant.
The concept is built around the curse (or whatever flavor you like) growing in strength as you progress/gain exp. You gain basic abilities at the start, some semi-related buffs in between, and culminating to a full transformation. Again, super rough draft to see what the interest level is.
Pack Tactics
3rd Level Lycantouched feature
You have advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.
If an ally attacks an enemy that is within 5ft of you, you can use your reaction to make one attack on the same enemy.
The Beast Within
3rd level Lycantouched feature
Your fangs and claws are natural weapons. When you make an attack with your fangs, you deal 1d8 piercing damage and you can attempt to knock them prone by shoving them as part of the same action. When you make an attack with your claws, you deal 1d6 slashing damage and you can make a second claw attack as part of the same action. Both attacks can trigger Sneak Attack.
You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Cursed Fang and Claw
9th level Lycantouched feature
Your bite and claw attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
Lycan Strength
13th level Lycantouched feature
You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
Final Form
17th level Lycantouched feature
You gain the ability to transform as an action. While transformed, you:
Can add 3 to your Armor Class
Have advantage on Strength and Charisma (Intimidation) Ability Checks
Have disadvantage on Intelligence and all Wisdom Ability Checks except for Perception.

I have homebrewed this Paladin oath, which is still WiP: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/1Y11R9jwtXdvhoGXRg8euFUYAWmlMjOYtZWsQ3Lxgd7fK

Alright, here we go.
