Hii I thought of a way to make inspiration more interesting for a player. What if inspiration was like a boon effect that when gained the player holds for a number of days ( let's say 7 for example).
It could work like that: The idea is to make several boons from which the player can choose one each time they gain inspiration. I haven't made them yet so let's set an example. Let's say a level 4 Wizard has gained a point of inspiration. The player can trade this point to gain a 7 day long boon effect. For the next 7 days the player has advantage in Intelligence Wisdom or Charisma saving throws needed to avoid a spell ( example Hold Person ).
This is just an idea and I am totally open in any comments to balance or maybe improve it. What do you think?
Honestly, this is pretty neat! I do not like Inspiration in my games, gaining advantage on anything is too strong in my opinion, but this boon system might work! I think that you may have to adjust the boon's duration based on the campaign, as 7 days means something completely different in different campaigns. Ex. Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is a campaign where you are in a city, and constantly doing something, so 7 days is a long time. But in Tomb of Annihilation, you travel for 5-10 days at a time with no encounters sometimes, so 7 days seems reasonable. Besides that, I think that it sounds really great!
