Loosely based on the curse featured in "Sea of Thieves" Cursing your treasure is pretty common, but most of the time it's just wishful thinking or at the very least vacuum sealed fungus that modern immune systems have no defense against. Any who come in contact with the cursed treasure will become affected. Only a natural 20 roll when casting Detect Magic would allow the players to sense the curse. Anything else would create a "sense of temptation" and result in an 'incubation period'. Symptoms result in itching skin and occasionally breaking out in a rash that scabs over and flakes off to reveal golden hued scar tissue underneath. DMs choice on where the rash spreads from. Coming in contact or visual proximity of treasure will result in a Wisdom or Constitution saving throw. Wisdom throws increase in DC with each success. Constitution throws are always constant but result in an increasing in multiple D4 rolls, loss in HP, and a more noticeable spread of the rash. Failed Wisdom DC result in an impulse to take the treasure, as much as possible. Once the DC has passed the maximum failure of the affected characters Wisdom DC results in the player coming down with a Frenzy and attack even their own party members for their loot. Characters that have been affected by the curse of a period prolonged time will become Undead, scratching their very skin off to the point that even their bones will turn to gold. At this point all reason and personality of the character is gone, leaving only an Undead compelled by the need to collect and keep their hoard.
