Hi, I hope I'm using this forum correctly, if not I apologize.
I'm making a homebrew world that I (hopefully) can eventually dm for some friends and wanted something (relatively) unique, thus I got the idea that the world is kind of flat (it's round/oval enough so it functions like the real world so you can't see everything on the otherside of the continent) with the upperside being the main continent/Material Plane, in the middle the underdark and then something on the opposite side, but I don't know how to describe this otherside.
I had a couple ideas like merging the Shadowfell and Feywild into that 'Plane', but I find it hard to think of something concrete. But one thing I definitely want is that the other side is something dark and corrupting, does anyone have some ideas for me (like what kind of creatures could be there and such)?
Hmm, that does seem like a pretty cool idea! You could have it be the Fey planes, in some kind of twisted parody of the upper realm. For example, they share the same basic geographic layout, and have similar locations for things like cities. But where one is a nice, shady forest on the surface, it could be a dark, spider infested (or worse) deadwood on the reverse. This would obviously feature plenty of fey creatures, and you could pretty easily take most other animals, like beasts and monstrosities, and tweak their appearance to better fit with little to no actual changes to their statblocks.
I personally enjoy cosmic horror, so I typically tend to flavor things in that sense, and you could do something similar here as well, a la the Dreamlands from HP Lovercraft's mythos. That would still let you have it be dark and corrupting, but with a very different feel. For that approach, you want to focus on abberations, things that twist the mind and seem to break the very laws of the universe.

Thank you very much! I can definitely make something fun with that!
